An accelerated, enantioselective, and general synthetic route to a class of malyngamides, K (1), L (3), and 5 ''-epi-C (4), bearing a cyclohexenone ring or a heavily oxygenated six-membered ring and a vinyl chloride structural motif was developed. The key step was the Suzuki cross-coupling reaction of boronic acids 6-8 with unsaturated carboxylic amides 5a,b possessing the chlorovinyl iodide functionality for the construction of the skeletons of 1-4. The key intermediates 10a,b were prepared using Ogilvie's method for the construction of the chlorovinyl iodide functionality. The NMR data of the synthetic compound 2 were in full agreement with those of the reported product, and the discrepancy in the specific rotation data suggested that the correct structure of malyngamide L should be 3, in which the absolute configuration of the amine part was enantiomeric to that in compound 2. Then the absolute configuration of the stereogenic center at C(3 '') and C(4 '') in malyngamide L was confirmed by synthesis of compound 3.

Prediction of TTF-1 expression in non-small-cell lung cancer using machine learning-based radiomics

Ruijie Zhang, Xiankai Huo, Qian Wang, Juntao Zhang, Shaofeng Duan, Quan Zhang, Shicai Zhang

Summary: The study aimed to explore the feasibility and performance of machine learning-based radiomics models in predicting the expression of TTF-1 in NSCLC. The results showed that the models constructed by the LASSO method demonstrated satisfactory performance in the test set, providing a potential tool for predicting TTF-1 expression in NSCLC patients.

Expanded field of view frequency-selective incoherent holography by using a triple-beam setup

Wanbin Zhang, Baosheng Li, Jinjin Song, Shuyu Zhao, Jianquan Li

Summary: We propose a new method called three-pack frequency-selective incoherent holography, which can achieve compressed holography with lossless magnification and resolution. The frequency-selective reconstruction process removes the conjugate and DC terms along with the interception of the object wave. Experimental results demonstrate the potential of this method in compressed holography, extended field of view, and slice tomography.

FOSL2 promotes intertumoral infiltration of T cells and increases pathological complete response rates in locally advanced rectal cancer patients

Kailun Xu, Xiaoyang Yin, Biting Zhou, Xi Zheng, Hao Wang, Jing Chen, Xue Cai, Huanhuan Gao, Xiaoming Xu, Liuhong Wang, Li Shen, Tiannan Guo, Shu Zheng, Baosheng Li, Yingkuan Shao, Jian Wang

Summary: By analyzing the proteomic profiles of locally advanced rectal cancer patients, we identified FOSL2 as a promising biomarker to predict the effectiveness of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. Patients who achieved pathological complete response had higher levels of tumor immune infiltration, especially CD8+ T cell infiltration, before treatment. High expression of FOSL2 predicted pathological complete response and was associated with long-term disease-free survival.

Fast brain tumor detection using adaptive stochastic gradient descent on shared-memory parallel environment

Chuandong Qin, Baosheng Li, Baole Han

Summary: This paper proposes a novel parallel optimization algorithm based on a shared-memory environment for solving the SVM classifier in brain tumor detection. Experimental results show that the algorithm extracts features of brain tumor MRI more effectively than the wavelet transform method, improving the accuracy and efficiency of brain tumor detection.

A radiomics nomogram model for predicting prognosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma after high-intensity focused ultrasound surgery

Changjie Shao, Juntao Zhang, Jing Guo, Liang Zhang, Yuhan Zhang, Leiyuan Ma, Chuanxin Gong, Yaqi Tian, Jingjing Chen, Ning Yu

Summary: This study developed and validated a radiomics nomogram to predict the survival of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) after high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment. The results showed that the radiomics score and tumor size were independent risk factors for the survival of PDAC patients. The combination of radiomics score and clinicopathological factors had better predictive value compared to clinical and radiomics models. The radiomics nomogram demonstrated improved discrimination, calibration, and clinical practicability.

Insight into the differences in carbon dots prepared from fish scales using conventional hydrothermal and microwave methods

Chengzhi Xu, Xiao Xiao, Chaonan Cai, Qunpeng Cheng, Lian Zhu, Juntao Zhang, Benmei Wei, Haibo Wang

Summary: In this study, carbon dots (CDs) were prepared from waste fish scales, and the effects of hydrothermal and microwave methods on their fluorescence properties and structures were evaluated. The microwave method facilitated self-doping of nitrogen, but resulted in incomplete dehydration and condensation, forming nanosheet-like CDs with emission behavior independent of excitation. The CDs prepared using the conventional hydrothermal method showed higher quantum yields and excitation wavelength-dependent emission behavior due to the dehydration and condensation of organic matter at controlled high temperature and sealed environment.
