Summary: Collagen oligopeptides are widely used in various industries for their high bioactivities and bioavailability. A4095, the most abundant S8 protease secreted by Anoxybacillus caldiproteolyticus 1A02591, was characterized as a collagenolytic protease that can produce collagen oligopeptides by preferentially hydrolyzing the Y-Gly peptide bonds in denatured bovine bone collagen.

Summary: The study showed that a cosmetic gel formulation enriched with chicken collagen hydrolysate can significantly improve skin hydration, elasticity, and wrinkles in the periorbital area. The longer the formulation is applied, the better the results, benefiting from the biocompatibility and biodegradability of the product.

Summary: This study reveals the pathogenic mechanisms of atherosclerosis induced by Fusobacterium nucleatum and provides new insights into the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis. F. nucleatum invaded aortic tissues and increased the progression of atherosclerotic lesions. It also changed plaque composition into a less stable phenotype and facilitated cholesterol phagocytosis and accumulation in macrophages.

Summary: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by the immune system attacking joints, and its underlying molecular mechanisms are still being studied. This research found that overexpression of nuclear receptor coactivator 3 (NCOA3) was observed in the joint tissues of mice with type II collagen-induced arthritis (CIA), an important model of RA. Inhibitors of NCOA3 were found to effectively reduce inflammation and improve the condition of the CIA mice. Further experiments revealed that NCOA3 forms a complex with other proteins that regulates the expression of proinflammatory cytokine genes, and targeting this complex could be a potential new approach for treating RA.

Summary: The neutrophil plays an important role in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) formation by releasing neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) through his-tone citrullination. This study found that the levels of NET components are significantly associated with the clinical outcome of AAA patients. Furthermore, NETs induce synthetic and proinflammatory smooth muscle cell (SMC) phenotype and promote AAA formation via the Hippo-YAP pathway.

Summary: PHLDA1 is involved in the regulation of TLR4 signaling pathway and functions as a negative regulator of LPS-induced proinflammatory cytokine production. It attenuates the production of proinflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the phosphorylation levels of key molecules in TLR4/MyD88-mediated MAPK and NF-kappa B signaling pathways, and by impairing the translocation and responsive element activities of NF-kappa B and AP1. PHLDA1 also represses LPS-induced proinflammatory cytokine production by binding to Tollip and restraining TLR4 signaling pathway. These findings suggest that PHLDA1 may serve as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of endotoxemia.

Summary: The study extracted collagen hydrolysate (CH) from leather industry waste and used it to prepare biodegradable films with chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) of varying concentrations, showing improved mechanical and water barrier properties. The incorporation of CNPs into CH-based films provides a promising alternative to non-biodegradable plastics.

Summary: This study evaluated the therapeutic effects of purified hydrolysate fraction of fish skin collagen from Clarias batrachus and Pangasius pangasius in inflammatory bowel disease. The results showed that the hydrolysate fraction could counter TNF-alpha induced barrier dysfunction and improve clinical signs of colitis in mice.

Summary: S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMet) has protective effects against hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI), reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and cellular damage. This study suggests that SAMet can decrease bacterial translocation, proinflammatory cytokine levels, oxidative stress, and apoptotic markers, while increasing survival rate in rats with hepatic IRI. SAMet may be a potential therapeutic approach for the treatment of hepatic IRI.

Summary: The study investigated the interactions of chicken trachea collagen hydrolysate (CTH) with egg white (E) and whey (W) proteins. The addition of CTH reduced the emulsifying and foaming properties of the proteins, while the addition of NaCl promoted foaming capacity and gelling properties. The mixture of CTH, NaCl, and whey protein exhibited the highest antioxidant and antihypertensive activities.

Summary: This study evaluated the possibility of using collagen and collagen hydrolysate to produce probiotic sheep's milk. The addition of collagen affected the physicochemical, organoleptic and microbiological properties of fermented sheep's milk. The form and dose of collagen had no effect on the growth and survival of probiotic bacteria strains, but resulted in darkening of the milk color and increased sweetness. Collagen hydrolysate addition effectively reduced syneresis in the milk samples.

Summary: This study demonstrated the potential of fish-derived collagen hydrolysate (CH) extracted from Mozambique tilapia scales to improve hair and skin health. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that CH can alleviate oxidative stress, promote hair growth, enhance hair quality, improve skin health, and reduce inflammation. Fish-derived CH offers a cost-effective and bioavailable option for improving hair and skin health.
