Summary: The study suggests that amylin receptor may modulate the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. By using compound transgenic AD mice models, it was found that deficiency of amylin receptors could improve hippocampal long-term potentiation response and spatial memory, while reducing amyloid plaque burden and neuroinflammation markers.

Summary: Long-term depression (LTD) of synaptic strength is associated with circuit remodeling, memory encoding, and erasure. P2XR- and NMDAR-dependent LTD are linked to distinct molecular modifications that lead to specific changes in synapse function.

Summary: This study successfully increased the brain concentration of neprilysin by fusing SST to a BBB transporter, leading to a significant degradation of membrane-bound A beta in AD mice. The findings suggest a potential treatment paradigm targeting specific areas affected by the disease.

Summary: HMB, a metabolite of leucine, has been shown to preserve muscle mass and strength during aging. This study evaluated the effects of different doses of HMB on synaptic potentiation in the hippocampus and working memory in animals. The results suggest that medium or high doses of HMB can enhance neuronal plasticity and improve cognitive performance.

Summary: Phyllodulcin, a component of hydrangea, can inhibit the aggregation of A beta and improve memory impairments in AD mice, suggesting it may be a potential treatment for AD.

Summary: The study demonstrates the involvement of GluN2D-containing NMDARs in both short-term potentiation (STP) and long-term potentiation (LTP) in the mouse hippocampus, highlighting the important role of GluN2D subunits in synaptic plasticity.

Summary: The study demonstrates that subcortical input from the SuM selectively regulates the activities of different DG neurons through distinct synaptic mechanisms in mice. While SuM activation leads to synaptic excitation and inhibition in all post-synaptic cells, the ratio of these components varies depending on cell type. Specifically, dendrite-targeting interneurons primarily receive synaptic excitation, soma-targeting interneurons and granule cells mainly receive synaptic inhibition.

Summary: Avenanthramide-C from germinated oats may be beneficial for AD-related synaptic plasticity impairment and memory decline, as it has been shown to restore impaired LTP in a mouse model of AD.

Summary: This study assessed the effects of carvacrol (CAR) and p-cymene on hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP) in a rat model of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The results showed that CAR and p-cymene can ameliorate synaptic plasticity changes associated with AD, but their combination did not have the same effect.

Summary: BDNF plays a crucial role in regulating synaptic plasticity, with studies showing a bidirectional mode of action involving different receptors. This study focused on the role of proBDNF/p75NTR signaling in MF-LTD and found that MF-LTD is not dependent on p75 neurotrophin receptors.

Summary: Adenosine regulates synaptic transmission and plasticity through A(1) and A(2A) receptors. Supramaximal activation of A(1)R blocks hippocampal synaptic transmission, and A(2A)R activation decreases A(1)R-mediated inhibition during high-frequency-induced LTP.

Summary: The study demonstrated the cognitive-enhancing effect of Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. bark extract (PBE). PBE improved cognitive impairment in rats through its antioxidant properties and enhancement of long-term potentiation (LTP) induction in organotypic hippocampal slices.

Summary: In this study, it was found that prednisone acetate (PA) administered via intragastric administration (gavage) successfully induced hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP) impairment more than corticosterone (CORT) injection. PA caused memory decline, granule cell loss, and lower levels of glutamic acid, N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors, and gamma-aminobutyric acid compared to CORT. Neuronal lesions in the dentate gyrus and reduced levels of Glu and NMDARs (especially NMDAR2A) were suggested as the underlying cause of LTP impairment.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the role of pancreatic amylin peptide in metabolic regulation and its relationship with Alzheimer's disease. The results show that amylin improves cognitive function, while inhibiting amylin receptors increases the risk of Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, there are different neuroprotective mechanisms in response to amylin therapy between females and males.
