Summary: The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies are expected to be uniform and follow a normal distribution. However, there are anomalies observed, such as the CMB Cold Spot, which is a colder than expected region with a p-value of 0.01 in standard ACDM cosmology. One possible explanation is the presence of a large void on the line of sight that causes a cold region through integrated Sachs-Wolfe and Rees-Sciama effects. Extensive searches have been conducted in the past decade, but only partially account for the anomaly. In this study, the lensing signal in the Planck CMB data is analyzed and the hypothesis of a large void causing the Cold Spot is ruled out.

Summary: This study investigates two puzzles in the export duration literature. The first puzzle concerns the frequent entries and exits of firms in export markets, which contradicts the high fixed export costs in such markets. By introducing convex production technologies in a trade model, the study shows how variable marginal costs create direct linkages between export markets. The second puzzle relates to the paradoxical effect of tariffs reported in empirical export duration studies. When endogeneity is addressed, tariffs increase the probability of export failure.

Summary: In this study, the magnitude of the late-time asymmetry (LTA) generated by the heavy neutral leptons N-2 and N-3 during their freeze-in and freeze-out processes in the nu-MSM theory is investigated. The results show that this LTA could lead to the production of a significant fraction of dark matter. The role of magnetic fields and the Abelian chiral anomaly in the generation of LTA is also examined.

Summary: The currency depreciation rate is often calculated as the ratio of foreign to domestic pricing kernels. However, using only bond prices to estimate these kernels leads to currency puzzles, where models fail to explain violations of uncovered interest parity and exchange rate volatility. The FX bond disconnect, which refers to the inability of bonds to cover exchange rates, is the main cause of these puzzles. By incorporating innovations to the pricing kernel that affect exchange rates but not bonds, these puzzles can be resolved. This approach also allows for the explanation of news about cross-country differences in international yields and currency risk premiums.
