Summary: Chemical investigation of Cleistanthussumatranus twigs led to the discovery of 10 novel lignans, sumatranins A-J (1-10). Compounds 1-4 are unique furopyran lignans with a rare 2,3,3a,9a-tetrahydro-4H-furo[2,3-b]chromene heterotricyclic framework. Compounds 9 and 10 are rare 9'-nor-dibenzylbutane lignans. The structures were determined through spectroscopic data, X-ray crystallography, and experimental ECD spectra. Immunological assays showed that compounds 3 and 9 exhibit moderate inhibitory effects on LPS-induced B lymphocyte proliferation with good selectivity indexes.

Summary: Cleistanthoside A has been identified as the major toxin in the boiled aqueous extract of fresh Cleistanthus collinus leaves, causing death in rats even in small doses. Cleistanthin A was also found in trace amounts in the boiled extract. Experimental results show that cleistanthoside A has a direct vasoconstrictor effect and inhibits ventricular contractility, challenging the notion that shock in C. collinus poisoning is solely of vascular origin.

Summary: In this study, seven lignans were isolated from the fruits of Crataegus pinnatifida, including six new compounds. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and the absolute configurations of two pairs of enantiomers were determined. Furthermore, the neuroprotective effects of these compounds were evaluated, and compound la showed moderate protective effect.

Summary: A method for obtaining valuable aryldihydronaphthalene derivatives is proposed, using a removable acyl group to promote the intramolecular didehydro-Diels-Alder reaction of styrene-ynes under mild reaction conditions. The reaction is metal-free, catalyst-free and has good functional group tolerance.

Summary: Eight new pregnane glycosides and two new lignans were isolated from Euphorbia gossypina var. coccinea Pax., along with four known compounds. The structure elucidation of the new compounds was carried out through spectroscopic analysis. Despite the isolation of these compounds for the first time from E. gossypina var. coccinea, they showed no significant antiproliferative activity against HeLa cells.
