Summary: A stable and reusable electrochemiluminescent (ECL) signal amplification strategy was proposed using a pyrene-based conjugated polymer (Py-CP) to trigger a self-circulating enhancement system. The incorporation of Nb2C MXene quantum dots shortened the sensitization evoking phase (SSEP) and introduced a photoacoustic (PA) transduce mechanism for dual-signal outputting. The portable and miniaturized ECL-PA synergetic sensing platform based on the closed-bipolar electrode achieved sensitive let-7a detection with good selectivity, stability, and reliability.

Summary: In this work, a high-order multiphoton-excited fluorescence (H-MPEF) material, ZLPH, was developed by confining a two-photon active unit (ZL) within a metal-organic framework. The obtained material exhibited bright four-photon-excited fluorescence under the excitation of a 1550 nm femtosecond laser, showing great potential for deep-tissue bioimaging applications.

Summary: Carbon dots (CDs) have gained attention for their biocompatibility and tunable photoluminescence, but further analysis is needed before their use in clinical trials. A new type of carbon nitride dot (CND) has been found to selectively uptake cancer cells due to structural similarities with glutamine. The study investigates the effects of surface structural differences on the cellular uptake of CNDs and finds that the uptake mechanism is linked with ASCT2 and LAT1 transporters. CNDs show promise for selective cancer cell targeting by utilizing highly expressed transporters on cancer cells.

Summary: In this work, a new approach for synthesizing carbon dots (CDs) with improved electrochemiluminescent (ECL) performance was disclosed. By engineering luminol as molecular emission centers into the CDs, luminescent groups rich in CDs (Lu-CDs) were synthesized. Lu-CDs exhibited significantly stronger ECL intensity and better consistency between ECL and fluorescence emission compared to traditional CDs. Lu-CDs were employed to construct an ECL biosensor for tumor cell analysis, demonstrating wide detection range and low detection limit.

Summary: In this work, luminescent groups rich carbon dots (Lu-CDs) were synthesized by incorporating luminol into the CDs, resulting in a significantly enhanced electrochemiluminescent (ECL) performance. The ECL emission of Lu-CDs showed excellent consistency with its fluorescence emission, unlike other surface state-dominated CDs. Furthermore, Lu-CDs were used to develop an ECL biosensor for tumor cell analysis, demonstrating a wide detection range and low detection limit.

Summary: This study developed a highly sensitive and portable multi-target serum cancer biomarker detection method. By using NIR-II emitting quantum dots and three-dimensional distribution assembly, the sensitivity and fluorescence signals of the test strip were successfully enhanced. With this method, simultaneous detection and quantitative analysis of CEA, Cyfra21-1, and NSE tumor biomarkers were achieved, with high sensitivity and specificity demonstrated in lung cancer patients and healthy individuals.

Summary: The study highlights the role of Caveolin-1 in radioresistance of lung cancer cells, as well as its contribution to tumor aggression. The heterogeneous expression of the CAV-1 gene in human lung cancer tissues is similar to its enhanced expression in human lung cancer cell line and mouse orthotopic xenograft models. Alterations in the CAV-1 gene have been linked to poor prognosis and survival in lung cancer patients.

Summary: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a life-threatening disease caused by abnormal repair responses to lung injury. The expression of miR-34a and its regulation of p53 have been found to play a role in reducing fibrotic markers in fLfs. Increasing the expression of miR-34a can reduce the severity of lung fibrosis. Furthermore, treating fLfs with CSP or CSP7 can restore miR-34a expression and reduce expression of fibrotic markers.

Summary: It is demonstrated that degradable carbon dots (from l-ascorbic acid, CDs-1) can up-regulate the expression of HMOX1 in animal cells and tissues, which has a therapeutic effect on LPS-induced acute lung injury in mice. CDs-1 can significantly increase the expression of HMOX1 by 5 times in a short time, decreasing the reactive oxygen species level and improving the survival rate of mice to 80% in vivo experiments. This study provides a practical approach for the treatment of acute inflammation and the potential application of carbon dots in anti-inflammatory therapy.

Summary: In this study, ethylene-diamine doped carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were found to enhance their cytotoxicity against non-small cell lung cancer cells. Functionalizing the CQDs with folic acid improved their targeting ability to specific tumor sites and induced apoptosis. Furthermore, the functionalization of CQDs was shown to strongly reduce cell DNA synthesis and increase Caspase-3 levels.
