Summary: This study investigates the potential of using an aromatase inhibitor as a substitute for testosterone in treating prolactinomas. The findings reveal that the aromatase inhibitor can inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in prolactinoma cells, as well as reduce prolactin and estrogen levels.

Summary: This study investigated the distribution of cells expressing the aromatase coding gene in the limbic regions of rats. It found that the expression of aromatase is higher in certain brain regions of male rats compared to female rats. These findings are significant for understanding the behavioral and mental health implications of sex differences.

Summary: This review explores the role of estrogen in the human liver and investigates the mechanisms behind its transition from protective to harmful. Estrogens play key roles in liver development, homeostasis, and function, but excess estrogen may lead to chronic diseases, and even cancer. Multiple pieces of experimental evidence suggest that estrogen is involved in the development and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Summary: This study characterized the expression of nuclear and membrane estrogen and progesterone receptors in adenomyosis and investigated their functional effects. The results showed upregulation of membrane progesterone receptors and estrogen receptor beta in adenomyosis compared to normal tissue. Estradiol promoted cell proliferation in adenomyosis, while progesterone and cAMP stimulated prolactin secretion in a similar pattern as in normal tissue. These findings provide new insights into the role of sex steroid receptors in adenomyosis pathophysiology.

Summary: This study demonstrates that mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) plays a crucial role in old hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and its pharmacological manipulation can alter transcriptional programs with beneficial consequences for function. Enhancing MMP in old HSCs can increase engraftment potential upon transplantation and reverse myeloid-biased peripheral blood output.

Summary: In this study, a complex fluorescent immunocytochemical analysis revealed the colocalization of aromatase with the nuclear stain in GFAP-positive astrocytes in cell cultures and adult rat brain, suggesting a unique mechanism in astrocytes that may regulate certain CNS functions via estradiol production.

Summary: The study highlighted the importance of the sex regulator DMRT1 and the maintenance of cell fate in sexual development, showing that DMRT1 can reprogram female granulosa cells into Sertoli-like cells in vivo and in culture. These findings reveal the key roles of chromatin state, gene expression, and different growth factors in the process of sexual cell differentiation.

Summary: Osteosarcoma is a highly malignant musculoskeletal tumor commonly seen in various age groups, with a survival rate of 70-80%. ER alpha plays a significant role in osteosarcoma pathogenesis and chemosensitivity, with potential as a target for current treatments and a prognostic factor for chemotherapy response.

Summary: This study revealed the potential endocrine disruption mechanism of Niclosamide by activating estrogen receptors (ERs) and estrogen-related receptors (ERRs) at environmentally-related nanomolar levels. By fluorescence competitive binding assays and luciferase reporter gene assays, it was found that NIC showed higher binding affinity with ERR gamma than other receptors. Additionally, molecular docking simulations indicated that NIC could bind to ERR gamma with the highest binding energy.

Summary: Telomere attrition has been identified as a biomarker and cause of aging, affecting gene expression in subtelomeric regions. Analysis of gene expression data from the GTEx RNA sequencing database reveals spatial relationships between telomeres and gene expression in aging, with more upregulated genes than downregulated genes in subtelomeric regions.

Summary: Wound healing is a complex biological process that becomes disrupted in the elderly, leading to non-healing states; estrogen deprivation is identified as a key driver of age-related delayed wound healing; although the beneficial effects of estrogen on cutaneous healing have been explored, there is a lack of widely exploited estrogen-based treatments to enhance wound repair in the elderly.

Summary: Spermatogenesis is a complex process that relies on factors such as testosterone. In this study, single-cell RNA sequencing data from adult rat testicular cells were analyzed to understand the mechanism of testosterone-dependent changes in developing germ cells. The dataset provides valuable information for characterizing developing germ cells, their regulatory networks, and the effects of the androgen environment on spermatogenesis regulation.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the anti-hyperglycemic potential of ethanolic extracts obtained from leaves of two different accessions of Maytenus ilicifolia (MIA and MIB) in normal hyperglycemic rats. The results showed that the extracts could reduce blood glucose levels, but had no significant impact on hepatic and muscular glycogen levels, plasma insulin concentration, and disaccharidase activity, while significantly increasing triglyceride and HDL cholesterol levels in hyperglycemic rats.
