Summary: The Wnt pathway plays a crucial role in regulating embryogenic developmental processes and tissue homeostasis via beta-catenin. Dysregulation of this pathway has been implicated in carcinogenesis, particularly in colorectal cancer. While the Wnt cascade is an attractive target for therapeutic intervention against CRC, its complexity and challenges need to be addressed for effective treatment.

Summary: Dapsone is an antimicrobial and antiprotozoal agent with anti-inflammatory activity, used in the treatment of leprosy and autoimmune diseases. A new compound AS-DpS-AS, a combination of DpS and 5-ASA, showed better efficacy against colitis in rats compared to SSZ, suggesting higher therapeutic efficacy due to the combined anti-colitic effects of 5-ASA and DpS.

Summary: Bacterial vaginosis is a common vaginal infection with challenges of recurrence and antibiotic resistance, prompting research into using probiotics to maintain vaginal health. This review discusses the potential of probiotic treatment for BV, the advantages and challenges of oral and intravaginal delivery, and emerging alternative dosage forms for intravaginal probiotic delivery.

Summary: Drug delivery to the colon provides promising options for the localized treatment of colonic diseases by increasing drug concentrations in the colon while bypassing systemic absorption in the small intestine. This study evaluated the colon drug targeting accuracy of a metronidazole benzoate colonic drug delivery system in healthy human subjects, showing high colon-targeting accuracy and reduced systemic exposure with a non-mucoadhesive formulation.

Summary: In this study, a formulation approach was developed to incorporate lipophilic drugs into bacterial nanocellulose using in situ precipitation of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid). The best-performing solvents were N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and ethyl lactate, which led to the formation of homogenously distributed polymer microparticles within the cellulose matrix. The material exhibited sustained release of highly lipophilic drugs over a period of 10 days.

Summary: Domestic dogs exhibit attachment behavior towards their owners, using them as a secure base for exploration and object manipulation. Dogs with a history of living in shelters show a stronger owner-stranger differentiation, displaying more anxiety-related behaviors towards unfamiliar humans and environments. This suggests that previous experiences in a shelter environment may impact a dog's interactions with novel stimuli.

Summary: This study demonstrates that outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) can serve as an alternative pathway for the delivery of type III secretion system (T3SS) cargo in enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC). The OMV-delivered effector proteins can enter host cells and retain their biological activity.

Summary: A modified in situ strategy was researched for preparing composite hydrogels containing BC and SA or SH. A new carbon source for BC generation was successfully developed, leading to reduced production costs. The modified hydrogels exhibited higher mechanical strength and thermal stability compared to native BC.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of freeze-dried red beet root and stem and leaves on the human colonic microbiota in vitro. The results showed that both red beet root and stem and leaves increased the abundance of beneficial bacterial groups and decreased the abundance of harmful bacterial groups during colonic fermentation. Additionally, they also increased the metabolic activity and antioxidant capacity of the human colonic microbiota. These findings suggest that red beet root and stem and leaves could be used as novel and sustainable prebiotic ingredients.

Summary: NLCs fabricated VCM carriers can effectively enhance the ocular penetration and residence time of vancomycin, showing significant sustained drug release. The optimized formula significantly increased intravitreal concentration of VCM after ocular administration, showing comparable therapeutic effects to intravitreal injection, with nonirritating and safe profile.
