Summary: Consumption of cruciferous plants can reduce the risk of lung, breast, and prostate cancers due to the presence of glucosinolates, which can be transformed into biologically active isothiocyanates. These isothiocyanates exhibit anticancer and antibacterial activity and are used in organic synthesis. This review discusses the synthesis of sulforaphane and its analogues, as well as their biological activity. The mechanisms of action for anticancer and antibacterial effects are also explored.

Summary: Ga(III) polypyridyl catecholate complexes were synthesized by reacting Ga(NO3) 3 with catecholate ligand and either bipy or phen. The complexes were characterized, and it was found that the catecholate ligands coordinate the Ga(III) centers in a bidentate manner. The Ga(III) complexes exhibited good antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria but were inactive against Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA.

Summary: In this study, tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) was encapsulated in carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) microcapsules (MCs). CMCS was synthesized to improve its pH sensitivity. The MCs were prepared and characterized using various techniques. The drug release behavior of TCH-loaded MCs was studied in different pH buffer solutions. The MCs/TCH showed promising antibacterial effects and could be used as drug delivery systems, especially in wound dressing applications.

Summary: TiO2-decorated magnetic biochar was used for the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline antibiotic, showing highest removal efficiency at neutral pH and a dosage of 0.35 g L-1. However, an increase in initial tetracycline concentration led to a decrease in removal efficiency. The process could effectively remove antibiotics from aqueous solutions while forming intermediate products with lower toxicity to the environment.

Summary: In this study, tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) was assembled with ferric ion and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) into TC multifunctional nanoparticles (TCFNPs) to improve stability and antibacterial ability. Optimized conditions resulted in TCFNPs with a size of 9.95 nm and high storage stability. Additionally, TCFNPs exhibited photothermal effects that synergistically enhanced antibacterial performance. This study provides a new approach to enhance the stability and antibacterial ability of traditional antibiotics for agriculture.
