Interconversion of two new nickel(II) coordination polymers with different topologies: synthesis, structure and magnetic properties

A new three-dimensional (3D) weak ferromagnet with cationic (10,3)-a topology, [Ni(L)Cl center dot 2H(2)O](n) (1) (L = 1,2,4-triazol-1-yl-acetate), was obtained by solvothermal reaction. In different solvent media, another 2D complex [NiL2 center dot 2H(2)O](n) (2) with 4(4)-sql topology was obtained and structurally characterized. Furthermore, the interconversion between complexes 1 and 2 was observed.
