A new complex material system, Mg(NH3)(n)Cl-2-nLiBH(4) (here n can be 1, 2 and 6), in which the MgCl2 works as ammonia carrier but plays a crucial role in promoting the interaction between LiBH4 and NH3 to release hydrogen at temperature below 100 degrees C, is reported.
