Summary: In this study, a novel crosslinked polyamide (cPA) system with hybrid polymer networks was developed by adjusting the reversible hydrogen bonds and permanent covalent crosslinks. A series of copolyamides were successfully synthesized and studied for their thermal, mechanical, and viscoelastic behavior. The best mechanical properties were found in the composition of BH37, which exhibited microcrystalline behavior and outstanding tensile properties. These studies provide useful information for designing novel cPA materials with controlled thermal and mechanical properties.

Summary: This study demonstrates that incorporating methyl groups into PGA polymers can widen the window between crystallization/degradation temperatures and melting temperatures while maintaining overall thermal stability. The distribution of methyl groups in copolymers affects the resulting gas barrier properties.

Summary: Interfacial cationization significantly enhances the redox-responsiveness of lipid-drug nanoassemblies by generating and concentrating ionized thiols at the cationic interface. This strategy can be utilized to prepare redox-ultrasensitive nanocarriers for efficient intracellular drug delivery.

Summary: In order to prevent the intra-cyclization reaction of succinic acid at high temperature, the direct solid-state polymerization (DSSP) method was applied to synthesize the bio-based copolyamide PA 5T/54 in this study. By using the DSSP method, higher molecular weight products with lighter color can be obtained compared to conventional melting polymerization. The proposed polymerization mechanism can serve as a guidance for the design and control of the polymerization process.

Summary: This research aims to produce high molecular weight bio-based poly(ethylene furanoate) (PEF) using 2,5-furan dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) or its derivative dimethyl 2,5-furan dicarboxylate (DMFD) for food packaging applications. The study evaluated the influence of monomer type, molar ratios, catalyst, polycondensation time, and temperature on the synthesized samples' intrinsic viscosities and color intensity. FDCA was found to be more effective than DMFD in producing PEF with higher molecular weight. A combination of techniques was used to investigate the structure-properties relationships of the prepared PEF samples in amorphous and semicrystalline states.

Summary: Metal oxide nanoparticle-reinforced polymers have attracted attention for their superior mechanical properties. This study investigated the effect of nanoscale reinforcements on polymer composites and found that a composite with 5 wt% ZnO nanorods exhibited improved elastic modulus, stiffness, and hardness. The viscoelastic response of the composite also showed enhanced performance to high impacts. However, the composites were still vulnerable to hypervelocity impact, although those reinforced with ZnO nanorods exhibited a cellular-like matrix with shock-induced voids.

Summary: Polyanhydrides are synthesized by melt-polycondensation of diacid monomers and excess acetic anhydride to form stable polymers with controlled molecular weight. The synthesized aliphatic polyanhydrides have controllable molecular weight and low polydispersity, making them suitable for potential use as drug carriers. In vitro drug release studies show promising results for poly(sebacic acid) as a candidate for controlled drug delivery applications.
