Summary: According to CDC data, over 14% of the US population practices mindfulness meditation. While the effects of mindfulness training on physical and mental health are well-documented, its impact on interpersonal relationships remains unclear. This paper proposes a theoretical model of interpersonal mindfulness and a study protocol to validate this model. The study aims to investigate the mechanisms through which mindfulness meditation training enhances self-awareness, self-regulation, and prosocial behavior, ultimately improving interpersonal interactions and socioemotional support. The proposed study has important implications for theory and society, and could lead to the development of more effective interpersonal mindfulness programs in various domains.

Summary: This study conducted a connectivity fMRI analysis on healthy individuals participating in an 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction training program, showing decreased local connectivity in certain brain regions after the training. The results also revealed changes in modulatory dynamics and connectivity patterns in response to mindfulness practice, providing insights into the potential mechanisms underlying the behavioral effects of mindfulness, particularly in relation to pain perception.

Summary: This study explored the satisfaction of pregnant or recently pregnant women with the existing Calm app content and their preferences for pregnancy-specific content. Participants found Calm helpful for improving sleep, anxiety, and stress, but desired more pregnancy-specific content. Future research should focus on utilizing pregnancy-specific content in meditation mobile apps for pregnant women.

Summary: In recent years, mindfulness-based interventions and psychedelic-assisted therapy have been experimentally utilized with moderate to great success as alternative treatments for various psychopathologies. Both interventions share various salutogenic mechanisms and have shown potential for synergy in enhancing therapeutic benefits. Replication in larger sample groups and better controlled methodologies is needed to fully understand the effects before extending them to clinical populations.

Summary: This study assesses the effects of Mindfulness meditation on emotional processing using Electrodermal Activity (EDA) data. The results show that Mindfulness training can reduce reactivity to stimuli and improve emotional well-being. Additionally, there is preliminary evidence to suggest that women may benefit more from mindfulness practice in terms of their attitude towards stressful stimuli.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effects of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), specifically excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS). A parallel randomized controlled trial was conducted, with 16 OSA patients with residual EDS (rEDS) randomly assigned to either an 8-week MBSR program or a time-matched program on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The results showed that ACT can be a potential adjunctive therapy for OSA with rEDS, but further studies are needed, especially with tailored approaches for this patient group.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the impacts of a mindfulness-based stress reduction program on novice meditators and regular meditators. The results showed that regular meditators had higher scores on self-compassion and mental health compared to novice meditators at baseline. Both groups showed significant improvements in various measures after the program, with the post-program scores of novice meditators comparable to the baseline scores of regular meditators.

Summary: The study found that equanimity can moderate the relationship between neuroticism and perceived stress with depressive symptoms, providing a higher amount of variance explained compared to parallel and serial mediation models. Increasing levels of equanimity may mitigate the impact of perceived stress and neuroticism on depression.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of team mindfulness training in the workplace by integrating individually focused mindfulness meditation literature with collective mindfulness scholarship. The results suggest that team mindfulness training is equally effective in raising individual stress management skills compared to the first-generation mindfulness program. Additionally, it shows promise in developing collective capacity to manage stress and unexpected difficulty. The study contributes to theory by outlining the interdependence between individual and collective mindfulness in workplaces and by suggesting the need for a cross-level approach in next-generation workplace training interventions.

Summary: Initially, dual-process theories proposed that the existence of two cognitive systems explained why participants often fail to find the correct answer in reasoning tasks. Recent theories suggest that both correct and incorrect responses are attributed to system 1, with system 2 resolving conflicts. Mindfulness training can reduce the influence of initial intuitions and facilitate deliberate thinking.

Summary: Medical cannabis or cannabis-based medicines (CBM/MC) used under the pilot programme in Denmark showed generally positive effects on patients with neuropathic pain, leading to reduced use of gabapentin and fewer hospital admissions. However, there was no significant reduction in opioid use, and CBM/MC did not appear to be effective for patients with other pain disorders.

Summary: This study investigated the mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic and found that young, single, and female individuals were at a higher risk for poorer mental health. The use of positive reframing as a coping strategy was associated with better mental health and lower COVID-19 stress, while distraction coping strategies were correlated with poorer mental health and higher COVID-19 stress.
