Summary: The effects of process parameters on the nonhydrolytic sol-gel synthesis of Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 were systematically studied. The results showed that the coarse concentration had a significant impact on the synthesis rate, while the fine concentration had no obvious effect on low-temperature synthesis. By adjusting the Ba-Sr-Ti mole ratio, the impurity phase BaCO3 caused by titanium source volatilization could be effectively eliminated. The optimized process parameters allowed for the synthesis of pure phase Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 at a low temperature of 600°C, with a particle size of 17-43 nm and a mono-crystalline structure.

Summary: The development of green and sustainable materials for use as heterogeneous catalysts is an emerging field of research in chemistry. This study prepared SiO2-Al2O3 mixed oxide catalysts with different Si/Al ratios using different methods and characterized their properties. The results showed that the Si/Al ratio of the catalysts influenced the texture and acidity of the mesoporous materials.

Summary: The crystallization evolution of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) powders processed from two organic gel systems was investigated, showing that the perovskite PZT form began to crystallize as the calcining temperature reached 400 degrees C and the crystallization mechanism was related to the powder precursor system. The activation energy for perovskite formation was approximately 77 kJ mol(-1) regardless of the precursor system when the Kissinger model was applied.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the effects of raw materials on the nonhydrolytic sol-gel synthesis of Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3. The results show that using Ba(CH3COO)(2) and Sr(CH3COO)(2) as the barium and strontium sources provides the best synthesis results, while strong substitution reactions with BaCl2, SrCl2, TiOSO4 prevent the synthesis of Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 phase at low temperatures.

Summary: The mixed oxide catalysts of SiO2-Al2O3-NiO with different Si/Al ratio and Ni content were prepared and evaluated in ethylene oligomerization. The study found that Si/Al ratio influenced the materials' texture and acidity, and samples with high Al content exhibited excellent performances. The catalysts compared well with model catalysts prepared by time-consuming multistep procedures from expensive ordered mesoporous silica supports.

Summary: MgAl2O4/C composite was synthesized using a low-temperature non-hydrolytic sol-gel method with Mg powder, Al wire, and isopropanol as raw materials. The influence of different magnesium sources and heat treatment temperature on the synthesis and adsorption properties of the composite was investigated. The results showed that amorphous MgAl2O4 had better adsorption capacity for Congo red compared to its crystalline counterpart, which could be attributed to the bimetallic alkoxides structure and the Lewis acid-base reaction between the anionic dye and the composite surface.

Summary: This article studies the formation and growth processes of nanocrystals with the pyrochlore structure in the TiO2-Gd2O3 system. The study shows that a uniform distribution of titanium and gadolinium atoms in the sample can be achieved through appropriate heat treatment methods. The most promising temperature range for heat treatment is 750-900°C, which allows control of the size of nanocrystals and defects in the pyrochlore structure.

Summary: Various non-hydrolytic sol-gel synthesis methods were investigated to selectively produce mesoporous t-ZrO2 or m-ZrO2 with significant specific surface areas. The presence of significant amounts of water favored the formation of m-ZrO2, while strictly non-hydrolytic routes favored the formation of t-ZrO2. The role of water in the structure of zirconia was found to be crucial.

Summary: This paper describes an experimental investigation of photon upconversion (UC) in perovskite BaTiO3/SrTiO3 superlattices doped with different lanthanide compositions. The results demonstrate that UC emission can be effectively enhanced by precisely incorporating a set of lanthanide ions into separated layers. Furthermore, controlled energy migration can lead to CC emission.

Summary: The influence of sol composition, water content, selected alcohols, deflocculant, and acid on the photocatalytic properties of TiO2 powders obtained by the sol-gel method was investigated. It was found that TiO2 powders containing two polymorphs exhibited superior photocatalytic properties compared to single-phase powders with anatase.
