Summary: The study found that ionic monomers significantly increase emulsion stability and improve the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance. The concentration of ionogenic monomers in inverse emulsions can change the interfacial tension kinetics pattern. Radical copolymerization has no significant effect on the particle size and stability of inverse emulsions.

Summary: Fabricating bio-latex colloids with core-shell nanostructure is an effective method for obtaining films with enhanced mechanical characteristics. Nano-sized lignin is rising as a class of sustainable nanomaterials that can be incorporated into latex colloids. The correlation between surface chemistry of lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) and integration efficiency in latex colloids and from it thermally processed latex films is explored.

Summary: Short-chain perfluoroalkyl styrenes were modified through insertion of tetrafluoro-lambda(6)-sulfanyl linked groups (-SF4-), forming side-chain fluoropolymers in emulsion copolymerization. Cotton fabrics treated with tetrafluorosulfanyl-modified fluoropolymers showed increased hydrophobicity compared to unmodified ones.

Summary: In this study, oil-in-water high-internal-phase Pickering emulsions (HIPEs) were successfully synthesized using composite stabilizers. The HIPEs exhibited high internal-phase levels and the resulting polymer films showed superior mechanical and damping performance.

Summary: This study investigates the modification of latex polymers to improve paint performance. Different functional monomers are added to styrene and n-butyl acrylate latex polymers to enhance scrub resistance, adhesion on surfaces, and control hydrophobicity and color efficiency of the paints. The results confirm that the addition of these functional monomers improves the paint properties.

Summary: Magnetic components are crucial for current electronics, but the materials used are typically rigid and non-deformable. Soft electronics, on the other hand, is a rapidly developing field that requires high-performing and deformable magnetic materials. This study explores the encapsulation of magnetic fluids into elastomers to create deformable magnetic materials. The FF/PDMS polyHIPE produced in this study not only demonstrates the potential for deformable magnetic materials, but also the possibility of even higher performing materials.

Summary: Electrically conductive polystyrene/carbon nanotube (CNT) microcellular foams were prepared using a HIPE polymerization technique. Modification of CNTs with polypyrrole (PPy) improved the electrical conductivity and dispersibility of the foams. The addition of PPy-CNTs significantly enhanced the rheological properties and crush strength of the foams.

Summary: In this study, macro-porous polymer foams with thermo-responsive shape memory property were synthesized using a W/O high internal phase emulsion polymerization method. The transition temperature of the polyHIPEs can be adjusted by controlling the ratio of macro-monomer, fluorinated monomers, and acrylate monomers. The polyHIPEs exhibited excellent shape recovery ability by changing shape at high temperatures, maintaining the temporary shape at room temperature, and recovering almost completely upon reheating.
