Summary: This prospective study evaluated the potential usefulness of [Ga-68]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in oncological evaluation of patients with inconclusive [F-18]FDG PET/CT findings. The study found that [Ga-68]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 may have a complementary role in discriminating mass lesions on conventional imaging, locating unknown primary sites in biopsy-proven metastatic malignancy, modifying tumor staging, and detecting suspected disease recurrence. However, caution should be exercised when interpreting [Ga-68]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT images in tumors complicated with inflammation.

Summary: The use of FDG-PET/CT in metastatic melanoma patients has increased significantly due to improved survival rates. Indeterminate findings on FDG-PET/CT in these patients should be further investigated, as almost half of them are malignant with the majority being melanoma metastases. Other primary malignancies are also found in a significant proportion of cases, impacting clinical management in the majority of malignant findings.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the temporal evolution of pulmonary F-18-FDG uptake in patients with COVID-19 and PCLD. The findings indicated that in acute COVID-19, pulmonary F-18-FDG uptake increased with time after infection, while in PCLD patients treated with steroids showed lower uptake.

Summary: New research indicates that there are changes in the plasma redox status and HDL subclass distributions in cancer patients. This study aimed to evaluate the redox status and HDL subclass distributions, lipids, and inflammatory markers in lymphoma patients with FDG-PET/CT scans. The results showed significant differences in redox parameters between lymphoma patients and healthy subjects, and these parameters were correlated with the maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) on FDG-PET/CT scans. Targeting the redox status parameters and HDL subclasses could be a potential strategy in fighting against lymphoma.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic yield of FDG-PET/CT in intensive care patients with BSI, showing a high sensitivity and specificity for identifying infection foci. Poor image quality was significantly associated with decreased likelihood of finding infection foci.

Summary: FDG PET/CT can identify relevant incidental findings (such as secondary malignancy, benign tumors, and inflammation) in HCC patients and those considered for liver transplantation, impacting patient management. It may also be beneficial in patients considered for transplantation of different organs.

Summary: A systematic review analyzed the pulmonary findings of [F-18]FDG PET/CT on asymptomatic COVID-19 patients, revealing that multiple ground-glass opacities and [F-18]FDG-avid thoracic lymph nodes were common patterns in PET/CT of asymptomatic patients with COVID-19. Postoperative COVID-19 patients should also pay attention to positive tuberculous chain lymph node metastasis.

Summary: In long COVID patients, brain PET scans showed significant hypometabolism in areas including bilateral rectal/orbital gyrus, temporal lobe, brainstem, and cerebellum. These metabolic abnormalities were associated with more functional complaints such as hyposmia/anosmia, memory/cognitive impairment, pain, and insomnia. The study suggests a potential biomarker value in identifying and monitoring long COVID patients, with implications for the impact of ACE drugs and nasal decongestant spray on brain metabolism.

Summary: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NC) is a rare epithelial tumor mostly found in East and Southeast Asia. Leptomeningeal metastasis in NC is a rare occurrence and has been sparsely described in literature. We present a case of a 33-year-old man with high-grade NC and leptomeningeal metastasis, with initial MRI lumbar spine showing subtle findings consistent with leptomeningeal disease. These findings were easily discernible on F-18-FDG PET/CT.

Summary: This case report describes unconventional imaging findings in a 71-year-old man who underwent FDG PET/CT for melanoma staging 6 days following COVID vaccination. The findings included a prominent intramuscular mass at the vaccination site and extensive axillary lymphadenopathy, which were likely reactive in nature and should be recognized as such rather than malignant in light of current world events.

Summary: This case describes the presence of a suspicious pulmonary nodule in an elderly male patient with a history of smoking, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. Further PET/CT imaging revealed active metabolism in the pulmonary nodule, as well as a partially thrombosed penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer in the proximal descending aorta.
