Summary: This study found that food-grade additives titanium dioxide (labeled as E171) and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles have adverse effects on the cardiovascular system in rats after 90 days of exposure. Therefore, intake of food containing these additives should be taken into consideration as they can translocate into the bloodstream and cause cardiovascular damage.

Summary: The study investigated the absorption and metabolic fate of ZnO particles in rats as well as their impact on gene expression in the liver. The results showed no significant acute toxicity after oral administration of ZnOs, but different forms of ZnO had varying effects on the transcriptomic responses in the liver.

Summary: This study aimed to enhance the specific interactions between multiple chemo drug candidates and human cancer cell lines by immobilizing them on ZnO nanoparticles. Among the formulated chemo drugs, the CP-DOX-ZnO complex showed high sensitivity towards breast adenocarcinoma cells with high loading capacity and efficiency. The results suggest that the endocytosis of Carboplatin-DOX-ZnO by cancer cells leads to selective internalization and induced acute apoptosis, resulting in inhibition of the growth signal of target cancer cells.

Summary: This review provides an overview of recent work on low-temperature plasma-assisted synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles, discussing gas-phase and surface reactions as well as various synthesis techniques. The thermodynamical nonequilibrium conditions enable the formation of chemically reactive species that readily interact with Zn precursors, leading to the formation of nanoparticles or nanowires. Different plasma parameters and techniques can be used to synthesize high-quality nanowires and nanoparticles, with potential for large-scale production.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of zinc oxide and iron oxide nanoparticles on rice growth, seed quality, and the microbial community in the rhizosphere environment. The results showed that low concentrations of these nanoparticles can promote rice growth and improve grain quality. Additionally, the nanoparticles treatment led to increased diversity and richness of soil microbes.

Summary: In this study, a simple one-pot procedure was reported to obtain aqueous zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticle dispersions from ZnO nanoparticles dispersed in cyclohexane. Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) was used as a phase transfer agent and colloidal stabilizer. The particle sizes could be controlled by adjusting the incubation time of the dispersion.

Summary: An aqueous leaf extract of Ziziphus spina-Christi was used to synthesize MnO2 NPs and Zn/Mn2O4 NC. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using XRD, SEM, UV-vis, and FTIR, and their photocatalytic degradation efficiency was investigated. The study found that the biosynthesized MnO2 NPs and Zn/Mn2O4 NCs exhibited good efficacy in degrading azo dyes, making them cost-effective and eco-friendly materials.
