Summary: A new intramolecular oxidative amino-hydroxylation of o-allenyl anilines is reported, where lead(IV) carboxylates are used to achieve tandem C-N and C-O bond formation at room temperature. Mechanistic and kinetic studies suggest a process involving Wessely dearomatization, cyclization, and rearomatization.

Summary: The protocol efficiently synthesizes N-aryl-substituted azacycles using aryl amines and cyclic ethers with I-2/NaH2PO2, yielding products with good functional group tolerance. The reaction can be easily scaled up to produce gram-scale amounts and further chemical modifications of the products enable useful transformations of the quinoline ring, including bromination and acetylation.

Summary: A trityl-cation-initiated annulation of benzyl-substituted vinylcyclopropanes with hydrosilanes has been reported, leading to the formation of new Si-C(sp(3)) and C(sp(2))-C(sp(3)) bonds through intramolecular reactions. The reaction mechanism proposed based on computations is in agreement with experimental observations, resulting in the formation of unprecedented silicon-containing fused ring systems. Another tricycle with a 6/6/6 ring fusion structure was obtained from a phenethyl-substituted VCP derivative through a related but different reaction pathway.

Summary: This study describes a highly enantioselective intramolecular hydroarylation reaction using C-H activation, catalyzed by an iridium catalyst and a chiral bisphosphine ligand. The carbonyl group of ketones serves as an effective directing group, allowing for efficient synthesis of chiral 3-substituted dihydrobenzofurans in high yields and enantioselectivity from readily available starting materials. The reaction showcases the potential for developing a more efficient and selective variant of the reaction.

Summary: A Pd(II)/Cu(II) catalyzed domino synthesis of tricyanovinylindoles has been achieved using DMSO as a one-carbon synthon. The reaction involves the construction of 2-aryl-3-formyl indole, sequential addition of malononitrile and a CN to form multiple bonds, and post-synthetic modification resulting in the formation of 4-cyano-3-indolylmaleimides. Photophysical studies of selected compounds show emission in the visible range.

Summary: A palladium-catalyzed intramolecular Heck/aminocarbonylation of alkene-tethered iodobenzenes with nitro compounds has been developed for the synthesis of carbamoyl-substituted benzoheterocycles. This procedure utilizes Mo(CO)(6) as a solid CO source, eliminating the need for external reductants or additives. Nitroarenes and nitroalkanes are both well tolerated, resulting in moderate to high yields of carbamoyl-substituted dihydrobenzofurans and indolines.

Summary: In this study, solvent-directed intramolecular hydrofunctionalization of readily available o-alkynoylphenols was successfully achieved under reagent-free conditions. The strategy is remarkable for its regioselectivity, atom economy, and efficiency in terms of atom, carbon, and reaction mass.

Summary: We designed and synthesized a NN-CoII bidentate complex and used it for the amination of alcohols under mild and solventless conditions. The complex exhibited good reactivity towards both primary and sterically hindered secondary alcohols, providing high yields of amines. The pyrazole moiety in the ligand played a crucial role in the reaction. Furthermore, we demonstrated the reusability of the complex as a homogeneous cobalt catalyst.

Summary: Nitroxyl has a unique biological profile compared to nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide. This study describes the preparation and evaluation of a new library of redox-triggered nitroxyl sources. The results support the proposed mechanism of nitroxyl formation and suggest that these compounds hold promise as tools for understanding nitroxyl's role in redox biology.

Summary: The synthetic application of (hetero)aryl radicals has been limited due to ineffective generation protocols. This study presents a visible-light-induced transition metal-free method for generating (hetero)aryl radicals from readily available (hetero)aryl halides. The generated radicals are used for the synthesis of 3,3'-disubstituted oxindoles, which can be easily converted to various intermediates applicable to target-directed synthesis.

Summary: A straightforward and sustainable method for the 1,2-addition of propiolic acids to ynamide has been developed, leading to the synthesis of bench-stable sp(2) (E)-enol-enamides. The reaction exhibits high chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectivity and does not require metal catalysts and solvent, making it suitable for functionalization reactions.

Summary: Resonance-assisted hydrogen bond (RAHB) theory was investigated in substituted pyrimidines containing O-H...Y unit (Y = O and S). Different substituents on the pyrimidine ring affect the strength of intramolecular hydrogen bond interactions. Various methods were used to estimate IHB energies, with results showing better correlations with hydrogen bonding descriptors when using MEM and Iogansen's relationship. Utilizing properties of ring critical points can provide more accurate estimations of IHB energies in heterocyclic molecular systems.
