Summary: Radial glial cells (RGC) play a crucial role in brain development in vertebrates, originating from neuroepithelial cells and becoming the main progenitor in the developing cerebrum. Questions remain regarding the transformation of NEC into RGC, the function of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in RGCs, and the dynamic behavior of RGCs during neurogenesis.

Summary: This study found that both enriched environment (EE) and overexpression of hTET1 can stimulate adult hippocampal neurogenesis (AHN). However, promoting AHN cannot improve cognitive dysfunction and depressive-like behaviors in chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH) rats. However, a healthy local brain environment with elevated BDNF and astrocytes is conducive to improving cognitive dysfunction.

Summary: Stroke treatment faces challenges due to limited interventions and a narrow therapeutic window. Glial cells play a crucial role in stroke pathology and can be targeted for treatment options. Understanding the functions and mechanisms of glial cells can aid in the development of better therapies.

Summary: The human cerebral cortex is responsible for our exceptional cognitive abilities. The remarkable increase in the size of the human cerebral cortex is mainly due to longer neurogenic period facilitated by increased cortical radial glial cells expressing BMP7. BMP7 promotes neurogenesis, inhibits gliogenesis, and mutually inhibits SHH signaling, which promotes cortical gliogenesis.

Summary: The dentate gyrus (DG), an important part of the hippocampus, is affected by early life stress, which can cause long-lasting changes in its structure and functioning. This review comprehensively discusses the effects of early life events on the maturation of neurons and glial cells in the DG.

Summary: A large number of genetic mutations associated with cortical malformations are found in genes coding for microtubule-related factors. This has led to research on how these microtubule-based processes are regulated to build a functional cerebral cortex. The review focuses on the radial glial progenitor cells, summarizing research on their organization and molecular mechanisms, such as interkinetic nuclear migration (INM) and mitotic spindle assembly, that play crucial roles in cortical development.

Summary: Artificial synapse devices with integrated memory and neuromorphic computing based on field-effect transistors have shown promising results in achieving brain-like computing systems. By utilizing a blend structure of black phosphorus quantum dots and organic semiconductors, this study successfully demonstrated the controllable adjustment of synaptic behavior while maintaining different memory states, providing a pathway for future in-memory computing applications based on transistors in artificial brain-like computing electronics.

Summary: Damaged neurons and harsh microenvironments contribute to the injury cascades following TBI. MSC therapy using dBECM-based hydrogel shows promise in promoting TBI repair by improving neuron compensation, structural regeneration, alleviating neuroinflammation, and promoting microglia polarization. This study highlights the importance of combining dBECM and MSCs as a critical vehicle for neurogenesis and immunoregulation in TBI repair.
