Summary: This study compared changes in corneal asphericity and pachymetry between the customized Q-value and wavefront-optimized ablation profiles. The results showed that despite a larger ablation amount, smaller optical zone, and increased corneal flattening in the customized Q-value group, comparable outcomes were achieved in terms of corneal asphericity and mid-peripheral pachymetry compared to the wavefront-optimized group.

Summary: This study compared the changes in anterior and posterior corneal surface asphericity after corneal topography-guided FS-LASIK in different myopia patients and analyzed the correlations with preoperative spherical equivalence (SEQ). The results showed that the changes in corneal asphericity were greater in patients with high myopia, and more corneal higher-order aberrations and spherical aberrations were introduced after corneal topography-guided FS-LASIK.

Summary: This article reviews the effects of upper eyelid surgery on ocular properties and visual function. The results indicate that eyelid surgery can modify retinal lighting and ocular optics, leading to alterations in intraocular pressure estimation, corneal curvature, corneal epithelial thickness, refractive power of the cornea, and intraocular lens calculation. Additionally, it can exacerbate dry eye symptoms and impact contrast sensitivity, which significantly affects visual quality.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes in corneal morphological parameters before and after upper eyelid blepharoplasty and external levator resection for ptosis surgery. Measurements were made using Pentacam, and significant changes in corneal structure were observed after the surgeries.

Summary: Keratoconus is a progressive corneal disorder with unclear etiology. The study evaluated and compared interocular differences in corneal diameter and surface area in patients with unilateral or highly asymmetric keratoconus (UHAKC). The results showed statistically significant but clinically insignificant differences in corneal diameter and surface area between more affected eyes and non-affected eyes. Corneal surface area remained strongly correlated between eyes.

Summary: The corneal Q values in this geriatric Iranian population were more negative than previously reported values, indicating a close relationship with ocular biometry and corneal curvature.

Summary: The study demonstrates that estimating human corneal asphericity using conic and biconic models from topography or tomography data is affected by the eyes’ natural tilt. However, the apical radii of the cornea are less affected by this tilt.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed topographic elevation maps from 3227 eyes to compare corneal surface areas in keratoconus and normal eyes. Results indicated that keratoconus eyes had significantly larger corneal surface areas at central regions, but no significant increase with severity of the disease. Redistribution, rather than increase, of corneal surface area was suggested with keratoconus severity.

Summary: The study analyzed the corneal spherical aberrations in patients with Chinese bilateral ectopia lentis, finding that the values were significantly lower in Marfan syndrome patients compared to non-Marfan syndrome patients, and tended to increase with aging. Individual measurement of corneal spherical aberration was necessary for bilateral ectopia lentis patients, especially those with Marfan syndrome.

Summary: This study analyzed corneal aberrations and factors affecting visual outcomes after implantation of a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) in eyes previously treated with laser corneal refractive surgery. It found that surgeons should consider spherical aberration in eyes previously treated with hyperopic laser corneal refractive surgery to prevent loss of visual acuity after lens removal.

Summary: The study compared the outcomes of Zernike and LD/HD simulations in evaluating corneal wavefront changes after customized aspheric correction. The LD/HD approach showed good correlations with postoperative variations in corneal profile and wavefront expansion, particularly in changes related to defocus and asphericity.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of implanting a single Keraring segment according to a novel Q-value-based nomogram to that of segment implantation according to the manufacturer's standard nomogram for keratoconus treatment. The results showed that the QN group had significantly better outcomes in terms of visual acuity and corneal parameters at 6 months postoperatively compared to the SN group, although the SN group showed better improvement in refractive astigmatism.
