Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant changes in the dermatology residency application process, leading to a need for increased transparency. A study was conducted to assess the transparency of dermatology residency program websites in various aspects. The results indicate that there are shortcomings in information dissemination, selection criteria, interview process, program priorities, and program requirements and opportunities. There is room for improvement in enhancing website transparency to better assist applicants in navigating the process.

Summary: This study examines the impact of a longitudinal, near-peer, dedicated ECG didactic curriculum on the ability of internal medicine residents to interpret ECGs accurately. The findings indicate that residents who participated in the curriculum demonstrated improved ECG interpretation skills. Attendance in more sessions and exposure to clinical cardiology rotations were also associated with greater proficiency in interpreting ECGs.

Summary: Recent calls for increased transparency in dermatology residency programs have highlighted the importance of program websites and their mission statements. A study examined the mission statements of all ACGME-accredited dermatology residencies, finding that 46.15% of programs included at least one mission statement category on their websites. "Mission" was the most commonly used category (39.85%), while "vision" was the least (3.01%). Word overlap was observed across categories, with "care" being a top word in every category. Explicitly stating program missions can benefit both programs and applicants in aligning career goals.

Summary: The diversity of modern society is often lacking in the representation of the medical workforce due to selection practices. Candidates faced challenges in portraying themselves positively, balancing between playing by the rules and being authentic. Despite a welcoming attitude towards diversity, admissions committees unintentionally prevented the hiring of underrepresented minority candidates.

Summary: This study found a significant moderate correlation between medical knowledge relevant to radiology practice and clinical productivity during radiology residency. Factors such as clinical productivity, gender of the radiology resident, and postgraduate year were independently associated with DRPT percentile scores. These findings suggest that clinical productivity of a resident could be a relevant metric in a radiology training program.

Summary: The ideal senior medical student experiences for general surgery internship preparation should mirror the learning and working environment of a surgical intern. Students need to achieve entrustability in Core EPAs and align Core and modified EPAs to guide essential general surgery components. Experiences should include night, holiday, and weekend shifts, dedicated critical care experience, and a curriculum focusing on non-technical and essential technical skills for residents.

Summary: The study found that many internal medicine program directors and associate program directors lack understanding of the new diversity standard and express concerns about its scope and institutional commitment. Efforts for diversity and inclusion are mainly focused on recruitment strategies, while structured implementation through education, guidance, and financial allocation can help address concerns and meet the new ACGME diversity standard effectively.
