Summary: Based on microbial experiments and gene sequence analysis, two novel strains of bacteria, VTT and ML, were classified as a new species of the genus Ancylobacter, named Ancylobacter radicis. These new species are capable of producing beneficial compounds for plants, such as dissolving insoluble phosphates and producing plant hormones. The study utilized comprehensive genomic analysis to further reveal the characteristics and metabolic abilities of these bacterial strains.

Summary: A new yeast species belonging to the basidiomycetous yeast genus Cystofilobasidium was isolated from a marine sediment sample in Shandong province, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on gene sequences showed that this strain represents a novel species, named Cystofilobasidium josepaulonis sp. nov. This species differs from known species in the genus in terms of DNA sequence mismatches and teliospore germination behavior.

Summary: Examination of fungal specimens collected in the Atlantic rain forest ecosystems of Northeast Brazil revealed many potentially new species of Glomeromycota, with two closely related fungi forming glomerocarps. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that these two fungi represent two divergent undescribed species in the family Glomeraceae, with one placed in the genus Dominikia and the other in a sister clade to the genus Kamienskia.

Summary: Although C. albicans is still the major pathogenic yeast, other rare or novel species, such as multidrug-resistant C. auris, are increasingly causing invasive fungal infections. This study describes a new yeast species, C. khanbhai, which is clinically relevant and belongs to the C. haemulonii species complex. In addition, this study also corrects the invalidly described names of several species, including C. auris and C. vulturna.

Summary: Two strains of bipolar budding yeast were isolated from rotting wood samples in Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest in Yunnan Province, China. Through phenotypic characteristics and phylogenetic analysis, the strains were identified as a new species of the genus Hanseniaspora, named Hanseniaspora menglaensis f.a., sp. nov. This species differs from the closely related Hanseniaspora lindneri by genetic substitutions and physiological traits.

Summary: Three novel asexual ascomycetous yeast species, SMT1.3, SMT1.10, and SMT2.2, were isolated from the gut of a termite Odontotermes horni in Maharashtra, India. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that they belonged to the genus Nakazawaea, with N. siamensis as the closest relative. Significant genetic and biochemical differences were observed between the new species and N. siamensis. Therefore, a new species Nakazawaea odontotermitis f.a., sp. nov. is proposed.

Based on genetic analysis, these strains were found to be closely related to Fructilactobacillus ixorae and Fructobacillus tropaeoli. These findings contribute to the understanding of microbial diversity in the Australian wild.

Summary: During a survey of floricolous yeasts in Portugal, a novel species of the basidiomycetous yeast genus Hannaella was discovered in the flower of an ornamental exotic plant Lantana camara, which is native to Central and South America. Molecular analyses of DNA barcode sequences confirmed the new species, which was named Hannaella floricola sp. nov. It also revealed its close relationship with other species in the genus Hannaella.
