Summary: This study examined the relationship between endothelial glycocalyx (EGCX) damage and the development of coagulation disorders during heat stroke (HS). The results showed that EGCX injury is associated with the coagulation abnormalities in HS patients and rats, and the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) can alleviate EGCX damage and improve coagulation function in HS.

Summary: This study presents the synthesis of a spiderweb-like nanocomposite with CoS quantum dots confined in N-doped carbon frameworks/CNTs. The material effectively captures sulfate radicals and accelerates redox kinetics, achieving an optimum degradation efficiency of 64% under dark conditions. This work represents a significant step forward in building a desirable all-weather catalyst with abundant active sites for potential use in degradation under dark conditions.

Summary: In laboratory experiments, many cytotoxic agents induce cell death accompanied by reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and/or depletion of glutathione (GSH). N-acetylcysteine (NAC), used as a ROS scavenger and precursor of GSH biosynthesis, can inhibit ROS production, restore GSH levels, and prevent cell death. However, NAC has limitations in interacting with important ROS and is used at unnecessarily high concentrations. The possibility of NAC directly interacting with cytotoxic electrophiles to form non-cytotoxic adducts is often overlooked, despite being a common protective mechanism.

Summary: Oxidative stress and depletion of glutathione play a crucial role in the onset and progression of Alzheimer's disease. N-Acetylcysteine amide (NACA), a form of glutathione precursor, has extended bioavailability and shows neuroprotective effects in AD animal models. This study investigates the potential neuroprotective effects of NACA against AD-like pathology induced by Aβ1-42 peptide in rats.

Summary: Cerium oxide nanopowder (CeOx) was synthesized via the sol-gel method and characterized for its catalytic properties in the oxidation of N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The catalyst exhibited a well-defined crystal structure, spherical morphology, and uniform small grain size. The presence of adsorbed oxygen on the catalyst surface was confirmed, and the reduction of Ce4+ to Ce3+ species was observed. The catalyst showed a high reaction rate and stability, making it a potential candidate for industrial applications in DMF oxidation.

Summary: An iron(II)-catalyzed nitrene transfer reaction of sulfoxides with N-acyloxyamides has been developed, leading to the efficient construction of N-acyl sulfoximines with high functional-group compatibility. The methodology can be carried out under an air atmosphere at ambient temperature and can be scaled up to gram scale with a catalyst loading of 1 mol %. The application of the methodology was demonstrated by facile C-H acetoxylation and olefination using the N-acyl sulfoximine as the directing group.

Summary: The study characterized the population pharmacokinetics of orally administered N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in broilers, showing that NAC was absorbed in all experimental chickens and reached maximum plasma concentrations in healthy chickens at 2.47±0.45 hours after dosing. The population pharmacokinetic analysis indicated no need for dose adjustment of NAC in M. gallisepticum-infected broilers or when combined with doxycycline.

Summary: This study successfully achieved LaTiO3-x samples with ultralow oxidation state Ti2+ sites through modulation of electron energy level of active sites. The obtained Ti2+ sites effectively activated N-2 and achieved NH3 generation, providing new insights for designing efficient N-2 fixation catalysts.

Summary: A study using a tandem mass spectrometer and a high-temperature ion-trap reactor revealed the increased reactivity of Co20-25 (-) clusters. This finding contributes to the understanding of the property evolution of subnanometer metal clusters (Co-25 (-)) at the atomic level. By analyzing the reactions of smaller Co6-8 (-) clusters, the reasons behind the increased reactivity of Co20-25 (-) were proposed.

Summary: The electrochemical denitrogenation of aroylhydrazides using NHPI as a mediator for the first time results in efficient synthesis of fluorenones with intramolecular trapped acyl radicals, under conditions free of external oxidants and transition metals. The addition of a catalytic amount of 2,4,6-collidine as the base enhances the attractiveness of this method for the synthesis of fluorenones.
