A novel glucose biosensor based on the electrocatalytic reduction of H2O2 generated by the enzymatic reaction was developed by employing single-walled carbon nanotube/nile blue A as an enzyme immobilization matrix. The biosensor exhibited a rapid response (ca. 5 s), a low detection limit (10 mu M), a wide and useful linear range (0.1-5.0 mM), as well as good stability and reproducibility. In addition, the common interfering species, ascorbic acid and uric acid, did not cause any interference due to the use of a low operating potential. The biosensor can be used to determine the concentration of glucose in real sample. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
