In this study, carbon fibers with different morphologies in their initial growth period have been obtained by the chemical vapor deposition using nano-copper particles as a catalyst at 250 degrees C and then we have investigated the formation mechanism of the carbon fibers. Otherwise, we have noted that multi-branched carbon fibers with different morphologies were synthesized, and proposed the growth models for carbon fibers. X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, energy-dispersive x-ray were used to characterize the products.
