Summary: This pilot study aimed to identify potential risk factors associated with bovine periodontitis development and found that the prevalence of periodontitis increases with age in cattle. Although the study did not detect a major influence of breed on the age-effect, periodontitis has a significant impact on oral health and productivity in older cattle.

Summary: This study examined the factors contributing to burnout among female oncologists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The prevalence of burnout was found to be high among this group, with the majority being young and in their early to mid-career stages. Factors such as being younger, practicing in North African nations, having a heavy administrative load, and having persistent thoughts of quitting were associated with a higher risk of burnout. On the other hand, engaging in hobbies and participating in oncology communication reduced the chance of burnout. Burnout support and education specifically for women in oncology are needed.

Summary: This quality improvement project revealed a high prevalence of sleep disturbance among primary brain tumor (PBT) patients, particularly in those with higher grade tumors, significant sleep disturbance, minority racial/ethnic status, and those not already taking sleep medications. Patients showed similar interest in pharmacological and behavioral treatment.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence and identify the risk factors of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in the Chinese adult population. Data from a nationally representative sample of Chinese adults were collected, and the overall prevalence of GERD was found to be 5.6%. Women, smokers, older individuals, those with higher BMI, urban residents, individuals with lower education level or comorbidities were more likely to have GERD. Symptoms of severe periodontitis and lower frequency of tooth brushing were significantly associated with the risk of GERD.

Summary: This study evaluates the prevalence and quality of endodontic treatment in patients with cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular risk factors. The results show a higher prevalence of endodontically treated teeth in these patients, suggesting a potential link between endodontic pathologies and cardiovascular diseases.

Summary: This study on periodontitis patients of different ethnic backgrounds revealed that Caucasian Americans had higher median incomes compared to African Americans and Hispanic Americans. The distribution of total bacteria and Porphyromonas gingivalis varied among the groups, and the ratio of Streptococcus cristatus to P. gingivalis was significantly higher in Caucasians. Higher levels of P. gingivalis and lower ratios of S. cristatus to P. gingivalis may contribute to periodontal health disparities.

Summary: This systematic review examined the risk factors of depression and anxiety in older adults with cancer. Thirty-three cohort studies were included, with 31 evaluating depression and seven evaluating anxiety. The results showed various factors in different domains that can either protect against or exacerbate depression and anxiety in this population. Understanding these factors can help policymakers tailor interventions to manage psychological distress in older adults with cancer.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and factors affecting burnout among oncology professionals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The study found that 68% of oncology professionals experienced burnout, with factors such as age, administrative work percentage, and thoughts of quitting oncology being significantly associated with burnout. Additionally, having a hobby, enjoying communication in oncology, and appreciating work-life balance in oncology were associated with lower burnout scores and prevalence.

Summary: Patients with severe mental illness (SMI) showed lower awareness and knowledge of cancer risks, less willingness to participate in cancer screenings, and more at-risk behaviors such as smoking. These findings suggest the need for targeted interventions to reduce cancer risk among this population.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the association between early recurrence and prognosis in patients with retroperitoneal sarcoma (RPS) and identify the factors related to early recurrence. The results show that 9.9% of patients developed early recurrence within 6 months after surgery, and early recurrence is significantly associated with poor prognosis, with high-grade tumors being an independent predictor.

Summary: BSI is a frequent event in ALL patients during the induction phase, and is significantly associated with variables such as protocol for Derived T Protocol, oral manifestations, central venous catheter, and bladder catheter. Identifying these factors can help in the development and improvement of strategies for supportive care, prevention, and rapid treatment of infections.

Summary: This study examines the predictive power of biological, social, and psychological factors on overall survival in cancer patients over time. The results show that biological parameters are important throughout most of the time, while social parameters are either time-independent predictors or more important in the longer term. Of the psychological parameters, only depression is a significant predictor and loses its predictive power in the long-term.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the factors that may predict tooth loss and periodontitis progression in patients who have undergone at least 5 years of periodontal maintenance. The results showed that stage IV periodontitis, the presence of multiple sites with probing pocket depth (PPD) >= 5 mm, and residual PPD >= 7 mm were risk factors for tooth loss. Residual PPDs of 5 mm and 6 mm at the end of treatment were risk factors for disease progression. Each 1 mm increase in maximum PPD/clinical attachment loss was associated with an increased risk of tooth loss and disease progression.

Summary: The presence of image-defined risk factors at diagnosis in neuroblastoma patients is associated with high-risk clinical, molecular, and histopathologic features. Specifically, tumor infiltration into adjacent organs and structures is associated with decreased survival. This information may assist in surgical planning and medical management for neuroblastoma patients.

Summary: The study compared the bacteria debridement efficacy of the first and second generations of sonic root canal irrigant activation systems. The results showed that activation of 2% NaOCl with either EndoActivator or SmartLite Pro EndoActivator significantly reduced the overall intracanal bacterial load compared to syringe-side-vented needle delivery. However, delivering 2% NaOCl for 5 minutes using the syringe-side-vented needle produced better bacteria debridement than either sonic agitation system.

Summary: The study compares the experience of patients seen using teledentistry with traditional Orofacial Pain and TMD visits. Results indicated a borderline difference in effectively using teledentistry for follow-ups among different age groups, but no significant differences were found in patients' experience between virtual and conventional visits. This suggests that high-quality dental care services can be provided remotely without adversely affecting patient experience or quality of care.

Summary: This study characterized the surface topography and evaluated the biological responses of various cells to a novel 3D-printed dental implant. The surface of the implant showed a highly interconnected porous architecture and roughness, leading to good adhesion and growth of human oral osteoblasts, gingival fibroblasts, mesenchymal stem cells, and monocytes. These findings suggest that this 3D-printed implant has excellent potential for clinical applications.
