Summary: Bonding with dentin involves a complex process of physical and chemical adhesion, requiring the adhesive to penetrate and envelop collagen fibers. Acid etching clears debris from dentin but also exposes susceptible mineral-free collagen fibers. Researchers have developed a rapid remineralization approach to restore the mineral content of etched dentin, improving mechanical properties and stability. Future studies will further validate the benefits of this method for clinical applications.

Summary: The study evaluated the influence of alpha-TCP on the physical-chemical properties of an experimental adhesive resin and the immediate and long-term properties of caries-affected dentin. The addition of alpha-TCP increased the initial Knoop hardness of the adhesive resin and the hardness of caries-affected dentin. There was no significant difference in other properties such as softening in solvent, polymerization rate, degree of conversion, microtensile bond strength, and mineral deposition.

Summary: The study investigated the effectiveness of novel polymeric nanoparticles doped with melatonin in reducing dentin permeability and facilitating dentin remineralization after endodontic treatment. Results showed that melatonin-doped nanoparticles effectively sealed dentinal tubules, strengthened the structure of radicular dentin, and promoted durable remineralization. This may provide a new approach for improving root canal treatment outcomes.

Summary: The study observed the adhesive interface on original tooth samples and their epoxy replicas under SEM, finding that marginal adaptation was mostly of acceptable quality, but issues such as marginal gap formation and resin tag breakdown were also noted, mainly attributed to polymerization shrinkage. A profound understanding of ultrastructural morphology is important for achieving a more predictable and durable margin between composite restorations and surrounding tooth structures, and SEM analysis can serve this purpose.

Summary: Objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of Arginine-calcium carbonate (Arg-CaCO3) paste treatment on phosphorylated dentin for remineralization and bonding performance during direct and indirect restorations under pulpal pressure. Results showed that the pretreatment of 2.5% Sodium trimeta-phosphate (STMP) with Arg-CaCO3 significantly improved mineral content, dentin tubular occlusion, and mechanical properties. Furthermore, the pretreatment promoted the bond strength and reduced nanoleakage for indirect restorations after 7 days.

Summary: In this study, an experimental adhesive was formulated and reinforced with titanium dioxide (TiO2) or zirconium oxide (ZrO2) nanoparticles to investigate their impact on various mechanical properties. Characterization of the nanoparticles, analysis of mechanical properties, and examination of the resin-dentin interface showed that reinforcement with TiO2 or ZrO2 led to increased shear-bond strength and affected the hybrid layer and resin tag formation. Further studies on the impact of different filler concentrations are recommended.

Summary: This study evaluated the influence of Libidibia ferrea extract used as dentin pretreatment on resin-dentin bond strength stability and dentin endogenous enzymatic activity. The SE and LfSE groups showed higher stability after 12 months, indicating that the Lf extract may contribute to inhibit dentin endogenous enzymatic activity when associated with an adhesive system in the ER mode.

Summary: This study evaluated the antibacterial activity of a nisin-doped adhesive against Streptococcus mutans and its impact on the degree of conversion and microtensile bond strength. The results showed that the nisin-doped adhesives significantly inhibited the growth of Streptococcus mutans, but the incorporation of higher concentrations of nisin reduced the degree of conversion of the adhesive. However, the microtensile bond strength was not significantly affected after incorporating 1% nisin.
