Summary: SPDEF acts as a tumor suppressor in HNSCC by transcriptionally activating NR4A1, leading to inhibition of AKT, MAPK, and NF-kappa B signaling pathways. Low expression of SPDEF is associated with poor clinical outcomes in HNSCC patients, and restoration of SPDEF inhibits cell proliferation in HNSCC.

Summary: This study reveals that USP4 plays a crucial role in the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) by modulating proliferation, migration, and invasion. USP4 interacts with TAK1 and stabilizes its protein levels in ESCC cells. Additionally, USP4 promotes ESCC progression through the activation of the MEK/ERK signaling pathway.

Summary: About two thirds of oral cancer cases are diagnosed at advanced stages, highlighting the importance of early screening. This study used an animal model to investigate early biochemical changes during DMBA-induced oral carcinogenesis, and found that Raman spectroscopy can be an effective tool for early diagnosis. The findings suggest that serum RS can detect increasing protein and loss of lipid content as oral carcinogenesis progresses.

Summary: The study demonstrated that a conjugation compound of TWEAK and MV1 could effectively suppress tumor growth and extend overall survival in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) xenograft mice. The compound exhibited binding specificity to Fn14-positive SCC cells and accumulated selectively in tumor tissue after administration. It induced apoptotic and necroptotic cell death both in vitro and in vivo, and degraded cellular inhibitor of apoptosis proteins while activating receptor-interacting protein kinase. The findings suggest that the compound could be a potential therapeutic strategy for cutaneous SCC with improved antitumor efficacy and negligible toxicity.

Summary: The study revealed that EPHB4 is highly expressed in OSCC tissues, and is related to tumor stage and lymphatic metastasis. Mechanistically, EPHB4 promotes proliferation and metastasis in OSCC tumors by activating the HMGB1-mediated NF-kappa B signaling pathway.

Summary: The study found that the expression of CD155 gradually increases in cervical cancer, reducing CD155 expression can inhibit cell proliferation and tumor formation, while CD155 overexpression has the opposite effect. Interaction between CD155 and AKT forms a complex, activating the AKT/mTOR/NF-κB pathway and inhibiting autophagy and apoptosis.

Summary: The study investigated the role of cIAP2 in hepatocellular carcinoma, finding that high cIAP2 expression was associated with poor prognosis. Knocking down cIAP2 reduced cell proliferation, invasion, and NF-kappa B pathway activity. Animal experiments showed that cIAP2 knockdown reduced tumourigenicity and proliferation activity in liver cancer cells.
