Summary: The study evaluated dimensional changes, soft tissue healing, and pain perception in post-extraction sockets filled with 1.2% simvastatin gel covered with polypropylene membranes. Simvastatin effectively reduced dimensional changes in sockets but did not affect soft tissue healing or postoperative pain levels significantly when compared to the control group.

Summary: The study demonstrates that regenerative surgery with EMD can lead to long-term clinical improvements in intrabony defects, but smoking status and maxillary molars may increase the risk of tooth and CAL loss.

Summary: Non-surgical periodontal therapy before bariatric surgery may improve periodontal health 3 and 6 months after the surgery. However, there were no significant differences in the improvement of systemic health parameters. Further research is needed to explore the potential impact of periodontal therapy on the overall health of bariatric surgery patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the risk factors for tooth loss in patients with periodontitis undergoing periodontal therapy and long-term maintenance. The results showed that on average, patients undergoing long-term maintenance lose approximately 1 tooth every 10 years due to periodontal reasons.

Summary: This case demonstrates the importance of thoughtful management and long-term maintenance of avulsed/replanted teeth in the adult dentition. While implants provide a simple solution for hopeless teeth, it is now recognized that saving avulsed teeth can have many advantages for patients and clinicians in the long run. Thinking ahead and considering future treatment outcomes can help improve and extend the life of dental replacements.

Summary: This study validated the association of different periodontal risk assessment tools with periodontal related tooth loss and compared their prognostic performance. Results showed that all PRATs had very good predictive capability of TLP, with PerioRisk demonstrating the best discrimination and model fit.

Summary: This study compared the stability, complication-free survival, and costs of three treatment options (M-MIST alone, M-MIST + EMD, and M-MIST + EMD + BMDX) for intrabony defects in the long term. The results showed no significant differences in clinical attachment level differences and recurrence rates among the three groups over a 10-year period. The total cost was lower for M-MIST alone. Larger, independent studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: The article provides an evidence-based perspective on the therapeutic application of biologics in periodontal practice. It concludes that the appropriate use of biologics is generally safe and provides added benefits to conventional treatment approaches, but the therapeutic benefits and risks depend on the specific biologics used and patient-related factors.

Summary: There are anatomical limitations to some surgical methods for treating neuromas, but providing a neurotizable target for axon ingrowth can be beneficial. Sufficient soft tissue coverage is also important in neuroma therapy. This study demonstrates the use of sensory neurotized free flaps with anatomical constant branches to treat therapy-resistant neuromas with insufficient tissue coverage. Clinical cases and common neurotizable flaps are also presented.

Summary: The study showed that LIPUS treatment can significantly reduce replacement root resorption in avulsed teeth stored in dry conditions. Histological assessments supported these findings, indicating better prognosis for teeth treated with LIPUS.

Summary: Periodontal regenerative/reconstructive procedures show better long-term outcomes in terms of shallower residual probing pocket depth and larger clinical attachment level gain compared to open flap debridement. Combination approaches may be the most effective, but a clear hierarchy could not be established due to limited evidence.
