Summary: This study investigated the association between the expression of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition factors and the prevalence of cyclosporin A-induced gingival overgrowth in renal transplant patients. The results showed that the use of cyclosporin A significantly increased the occurrence of gingival overgrowth in these patients, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition played an important role in cyclosporin A-induced gingival hyperplasia.

Summary: Drug-induced gingival overgrowth (DIGO) is an undesirable effect caused by phenytoin, calcium channel blockers, and cyclosporine A therapy. It leads to gingivitis, periodontitis, and even tooth loss. Treatment and good oral hygiene can help alleviate the symptoms.

Summary: The utilization of immunosuppressive drugs is increasing in transplant patients in Montenegro and other observed countries. However, despite a decrease in the price per defined daily dose (DDD) for certain drugs, the overall cost of immunosuppressants is rising annually, which poses a significant financial burden on healthcare systems.

Summary: In this study, the occurrence of tacrolimus-induced liver injury (tac-DILI) in renal transplant recipients was investigated. The most common type of tac-DILI was found to be the cholestatic pattern. Baseline ALP level, age, and body weight were identified as independent risk factors.

Summary: Medication-induced gingival hyperplasia (MIGH) has various treatment options, including surgical and nonsurgical interventions. Persistent or relapsed cases can achieve complete resolution through excision of hyperplastic gingiva, while laser-assisted surgeries combined with intensive plaque control measures show lower risk of recurrence.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic risk of patients with tacrolimus intolerance after liver transplantation. The results suggested that switching to cyclosporine (SFTC) may increase the risk of dyslipidemia and insulin resistance, while specific SNPs of CYP3A5 gene could be potential genetic risks for tacrolimus intolerance.

Summary: The pharmacokinetic properties of cyclosporine in renal transplant recipients are influenced by patient-specific factors and change over time. Factors such as body size, hematocrit level, prednisolone dose, and genetic haplotypes may contribute to the variability in cyclosporine exposure. Tailoring cyclosporine dosing based on these factors at different postoperative periods could optimize therapy outcomes.

Summary: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common microbial infection that can range from simple bladder inflammation to severe cases of uroseptic shock. Both males and females may experience at least one symptomatic UTI in their lifetime. Early diagnosis and appropriate antibiotic therapy are crucial in preventing complicated UTI conditions like urosepsis.

Summary: The study revealed that approximately 49.7% of patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment experienced gingival overgrowth, which was associated with factors such as metallic brackets, mouth breathing, male gender, thick periodontal phenotype, and elastomeric ligations. Logistic regression analysis showed that metallic brackets and treatment duration were the main predictors of gingival enlargement, while the amount of plaque was not directly related to its development during orthodontic treatment.

Summary: The study demonstrated the significance of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the development of gingival overgrowth (GO) and proposed an antioxidant strategy to prevent or reduce GO. Antioxidants, including vitamin E and sulforaphane, were found to ameliorate CsA-induced pathological and morphological alterations in GO without interfering with CsA's immunosuppressive effects. This research provides valuable insights for clinicians in devising better prevention strategies for patients susceptible to GO.

Summary: This study evaluated and compared the analgesic effects of preemptive administration of ibuprofen and nimesulide in open flap periodontal surgeries. The results showed that nimesulide had better pain control effects at 24, 48, and 72 postoperative hours, indicating a higher overall preemptive effect.

Summary: This study assessed changes in self-perceived breath odour and oral hygiene habits during the wearing of face masks in the COVID-19 pandemic. It found that changes in self-perceived breath odour were associated with factors such as smoking, dry mouth, and tongue coating, while changes in oral hygiene habits were closely related to changes in self-perceived breath odour.

Summary: The study found a significant risk association between liver cirrhosis and peri-implantitis, with alcohol use, age, gender, smoking, periodontitis, and number of teeth also significantly associated with the occurrence of peri-implantitis. Further research with a larger sample size and controlling for confounding factors is needed to better understand the link between peri-implantitis and liver cirrhosis.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the impact of furcation involvement on the longevity of molars and identify the risk variables associated with molar loss in individuals receiving supportive periodontal care. The study found that patient-related factors such as age, gender, diabetes, and smoking, as well as tooth-related factors like tooth vitality and periodontal parameters, significantly influenced the prognosis of molars.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effect of supragingival plaque control on the recurrence of periodontitis and the achievement of a stable periodontal clinical endpoint after 10 years of periodontal maintenance therapy. The results showed that individuals with poor oral hygiene had a higher risk of periodontitis recurrence and a lower chance of achieving a stable periodontal status.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the incidence of peri-implant diseases and the associated risk factors. The results showed that regular compliance during peri-implant maintenance therapy significantly reduced the incidence of peri-implant diseases. Therefore, regular dental visits and good oral hygiene are important for preventing peri-implant diseases.
