Summary: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a deadly blood cancer, with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) being considered as potential candidates for disease prevention. SNPs in the autophagy core gene ATG10, especially ATG10(rs3734114), are associated with increased susceptibility to AML. On the other hand, ATG10(rs1864182) SNP is linked to reduced risk of developing AML.

Summary: Chemotherapy is the standard treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), but its efficacy is disappointing, highlighting the need for new therapeutic targets. This study found that certain single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the PD1 gene are associated with susceptibility and prognosis of AML, suggesting a potential new therapeutic target for AML patients.

Summary: The study found that the occurrence of AOH in fetuses detected through prenatal diagnosis was 0.97%, with AOH usually occurring on a single chromosome. Fetuses with AOH and ultrasound abnormalities were at a higher risk for adverse perinatal outcomes.

Summary: Chronic myeloid leukemia is a genetically heterogeneous disease characterized by the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome and the BCR::ABL fusion protein. The disease is accompanied by chromosomal and genetic instability, leading to increased chromosomal abnormalities and other genetic aberrations. Understanding the cause and effects of this instability may improve treatment options for advanced phase CML.

Summary: This retrospective analysis examined the types and characteristics of sex chromosomal abnormalities in 186 fetuses in Fujian Province, China. The study found various abnormalities, such as Turner syndrome, triple X syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and XYY syndrome, as well as mosaic variants and large-scale deletions/duplications. The use of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array analysis was shown to be important for prenatal diagnosis of sex chromosomal abnormalities.

Summary: This study assessed the concordance and accuracy of Illumina Infinium and Affymetrix Axiom SNP array data in apple genomes. The majority of the data was found to be compatible, although intense data filtering and curation were required for data integration. This in-depth analysis may provide valuable insights for future work on SNP array data integration and interpretation, as well as for probe/platform development.

Summary: Accurate orchestration of gene expression is critical for normal hematopoiesis, with epigenetic aberration being a major cause of AML. HDACs play pivotal roles in chromatin remodeling, regulating stemness maintenance, cell fate determination, proliferation, and differentiation, with potential implications in carcinogenesis. Targeting the interactions between HDACs and oncogenic proteins could provide insights for AML treatment strategies.

Summary: Natural killer cells play a vital role in the immune response against AML, with the expression of activating NK cell receptors impacting patient survival. Gene variants influencing NK cell receptor expression were found to affect clinical outcomes in AML patients undergoing immunotherapy. These results suggest that variations in genes encoding activating NK cell receptors can determine receptor expression levels and clinical outcomes in AML immunotherapy.

Summary: This study identified important genetic variants in patients with myeloid blast crisis chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) using integrated genomic sequencing. These variants affect genes involved in leukemia stem cell proliferation, self-renewal, and differentiation. RNA sequencing was used to confirm these variants. This approach provides insights into the pathophysiology of CML and may aid in its management.

Summary: This review assessed the molecular pathology of diabetes in the Middle East population and explored the feasibility of introducing a SNP-based diagnostic panel for diabetes screening. With a population of 370 million, this study could serve as a reliable model for promoting the use of such diagnostic panels in other populations worldwide.
