Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of exposure to OPEs and phthalates on maternal thyroid function during pregnancy. The results suggest that certain metabolites are associated with thyroid function biomarkers, but the specific associations may vary depending on the statistical models used.

Summary: Maternal antibiotic use and infections during pregnancy are associated with an increased risk of offspring asthma. The use of antibiotics during pregnancy is linked to asthma at the age of 7, while maternal infections during pregnancy are associated with asthma at both 7 and 13 years old. However, the effect of antibiotics may reflect a shared underlying susceptibility rather than a direct cause.

Summary: The study found that both women and men with prolonged time-to-pregnancy have a slightly increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Further research is needed to investigate the clinical significance of this phenomenon and the underlying causes of the increased risk of CVD associated with prolonged TTP.

Summary: By incorporating information on repeatedly redeemed prescriptions and redemptions of drug classes commonly used in pregnancy, this study aimed to reduce bias from exposure misclassification in assessing the effect of prenatal antidepressant-ADHDrelationship. The results did not support the hypothesis that prenatal antidepressant exposure increases the risk of ADHD.

Summary: The study found a positive association between schizophrenia polygenic scores and childhood trauma, with consistent results across the ALSPAC and MoBa cohorts. Additionally, genetic liability for a range of psychiatric traits was also associated with greater trauma exposure in ALSPAC, suggesting that youth at higher genetic risk may need more resources and support to ensure a healthy environment for growth.

Summary: Children exposed to SSRI/SNRI treatment during pregnancy do not have significantly higher risk of ADHD compared to those who were untreated or discontinued treatment, but there is an elevated risk at 7-9 years old. Summary: This study found that integrated treatment for chronic HCV infection among people who inject drugs was more effective in terms of time-to-treatment initiation and achieving sustained virologic response compared to standard treatment. It also showed comparable SVR rates among those who initiated treatment. Scaling up integrated treatment models could be crucial in the elimination of HCV.

Summary: This study examined the risk of developing future alcohol use disorder (AUD) among offspring from families with different combinations of parental risk factors. The results showed that offspring from families characterized by weekly binge drinking, low education, and poor mental health in parents were more likely to develop AUD, even after adjusting for covariates. This suggests that parental drinking patterns, along with additional risk factors like mental health and education, can significantly impact the risk of AUD in offspring.

Summary: This study investigated the trends in prescription drug use among children, adolescents, and young adults over the past 15 years. The study found that the use of prescription drugs was low in children and adolescents, but increased with age in adolescents and young adults, particularly for analgesics and drugs with higher potential for misuse. Additionally, females overall used more prescription drugs than their male peers.

Summary: This study investigated the differences in characteristics between individuals who died from pharmaceutical opioid (PO) overdoses and those who died from other types of overdoses. The findings revealed that individuals who died from PO overdoses were typically older, more often women, had a higher prevalence of chronic pain, and used higher doses of prescription opioids compared to those who died from other types of overdoses. These differences highlight the need for tailored prevention strategies.

Summary: The study found that there was an increase in the utilization of antidepressants, anxiolytics, and hypnotics in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The utilization of antidepressants increased between 13.5% and 31.3% in Denmark and decreased by 16.7% in Swedish youths. There was a general increase in the utilization of other anxiolytics and hypnotics in all countries at the end of 2020. These findings may indicate medication stockpiling and an increase in symptoms of depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances.

Summary: This study compares the morbidity rates of children with prenatal methamphetamine (MA) and opioid exposure to those without exposure. The results show that children prenatally exposed to MA and opioids have higher hospitalization rates, diagnosis rates, and longer hospital stays compared to non-exposed children. Summary: This study examines the physical morbidity in two national cohorts of opioid agonist treatment (OAT) patients, focusing on gender differences. Women in OAT have a significantly higher prevalence of physical diseases, especially genitourinary diseases and neoplasms. Injuries/external causes and infectious/parasitic diseases are common in both women and men, with viral hepatitis accounting for over half of infectious morbidity in both cohorts.

Summary: This study aimed to describe non-overdose causes of death among opioid maintenance treatment (OMT) patients in Czechia, Denmark, and Norway, and explore the associations with age and gender. The leading non-overdose causes of death varied across the cohorts, with accidents in Czechia and Denmark, and neoplasms in Norway. Cardiovascular deaths were highest in Czechia, particularly among women in OMT. These findings suggest the importance of screening and preventive health initiatives tailored to the demographic characteristics of OMT patients in different settings.
