Summary: This review provides a comprehensive overview of the role of E2 in female folliculogenesis and the various effects of ERβ splice isoforms. It also discusses how deregulation of E2 signaling can lead to two ovarian pathologies and emphasizes the need for further research.

Summary: Menstruation is a cyclic physiological phenomenon controlled by ovarian hormones, and a proper understanding of normal endometrial physiology is crucial for regulating menstrual disorders. Autophagy in the endometrium, regulated by ovarian hormones, plays a key role in immune cell infiltration, tissue repair, and infection prevention during menstruation. Abnormal autophagy levels and dysregulated immune system function are associated with the pathogenesis and progression of endometriosis, suggesting the potential value of autophagy as a target for the treatment of menstrual-related and endometrium-related disorders.

Summary: This study analyzed the immunohistochemical expression of BMI-1 in endometriosis-related ovarian carcinoma (EOC) and non-endometriotic ovarian carcinoma (NEOC), revealing significant differences in tissue profile between the two groups. The expression of BMI-1 in epithelial tumor cells was predominantly low or negative in EOC, while it was mainly positive in NEOC. Additionally, differences were observed in stromal BMI-1 expression, with NEOC showing predominantly strong expression compared to variable expression in EOC.

Summary: The study identified TSPAN1 as a key gene in the malignant transformation of endometriosis to ovarian clear cell carcinoma. Upregulation of TSPAN1 enhances cell growth and invasion, potentially serving as a screening candidate for high-risk endometriosis.

Summary: The study reveals the interaction between SPY and CPN20, which is enhanced by ABA, and the O-fucosylation of CPN20 by SPY fine-tunes ABA signaling in Arabidopsis. SPY negatively regulates the localization of CPN20 in the chloroplast, and the role of CPN20 in the ABA signaling pathway may involve parallel pathways.

Summary: Chemerin, a pleiotropic adipokine coded by the RARRES2 gene, and its receptor CMKLR1 were found to be positively correlated in ovarian cancer. Chemerin staining intensity was also strongly associated with the expression of progesterone receptor. Both chemerin and CMKLR1 proteins showed positive correlations with estrogen receptor beta and estrogen-related receptors. However, neither chemerin nor CMKLR1 protein levels were associated with the survival of ovarian cancer patients. Further studies are needed to understand the extent to which this interaction affects ovarian cancer development and progression.

Summary: The oncogenic transcription factor EVI1 is amplified and overexpressed in up to 30% of HGSOC cases, promoting tumor proliferation and invasion by regulating estrogen signaling and collaborating with ESR1 in the regulation of specific genes. Moreover, EVI1 drives tumor aggressiveness by partially controlling estrogen signaling, which can be rescued by estrogen, indicating its novel role in the ovarian cancer estrogen signaling network.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that traditional estrogen receptors, alpha and beta, can also act at the cell surface in addition to their nuclear functions. Signaling from these membrane-bound estrogen receptors can rapidly affect cellular excitability and ultimately impact gene expression. The interaction between these membrane receptors and metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) plays a key role in various female functions such as reproduction and motivation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of neutrophil and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as predictive risk markers for recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) through a retrospective case-control study and a meta-analysis. The findings suggest that high neutrophil and NLR levels could be potential risk factors for RPL, and further large-scale studies are needed to confirm these associations.
