Summary: The study revealed that training duration and intensity were associated with vascular structure and function in children and adolescents, with higher intensity training contributing to thicker cIMT but also increased vascular elasticity.

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated arterial stiffness, carotid intima-media thickness, endocan level, and A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type I motif 9 level in patients with acromegaly and their relationship with disease activity and cardiovascular risk factors. The results showed that arterial stiffness increased in patients with acromegaly with cardiovascular risk factors and was associated with hemodynamic and metabolic parameters.

Summary: A novel N-cadherin-binding peptide has been discovered to effectively inhibit smooth muscle cell migration and directional movement, reducing intimal thickening without affecting endothelial cell repair, indicating the potential for this peptide in the treatment of vascular restenosis.

Summary: This study explores the two different types of lower limb arterial calcification: intimal calcification and medial calcification. Intimal calcification is associated with atherosclerosis, while medial calcification is linked to age, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. Understanding the mechanisms of both types in PAD patients is crucial for treatment.

Summary: Coronary artery aneurysms in Kawasaki disease can lead to structural changes in the arterial walls, even in cases where the aneurysms regress in the convalescent phase. In this study, intimal thickening and media disruption were observed in coronary arteries with acute phase CAAs as well as in those with normal CAG findings.

Summary: This study evaluated arterial stiffness and carotid atherosclerotic burden in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). The results showed that individuals with DM had increased intima-media thickness, carotid plaque burden, and carotid-to-femoral pulse wave velocity compared to those without DM. These findings indicate a higher risk of future cardiovascular events associated with DM.

Summary: This study assessed the effects of vitamin D supplementation on arterial stiffness in obese adolescents. The researchers found that a high proportion of obese adolescents had vitamin D deficiency and supplementation improved carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) and reduced the risk of arterial stiffness.

Summary: Arterial age is independently associated with accelerated aneurysm expansion, while chronological age is not. A noninvasive and inexpensive assessment of arterial age can potentially be useful for TAA risk stratification and disease monitoring as compared with the current clinical standard (chronological age).

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between serum FGF-21 levels and atherosclerosis in acromegalic patients. The study found that acromegalic patients had lower serum FGF-21 levels, which may be associated with the effects of growth hormone on liver fat. Acromegaly was linked to higher CIMT, but there was no correlation between FGF-21 levels and CIMT. Further research is needed to understand the role of FGF-21 as a marker of atherosclerosis in acromegaly.

Summary: This study investigated the nonlinear characteristics of natural ankle quasi-stiffness (NAS) across various gait tasks and intensities. Quadratic and cubic regressions of NAS were found to have lower error rates than linear regression, with quadratic regressions exhibiting clear trends with changes in walking or running speed. This study enhances the understanding of nonlinear NAS for future prosthetic and orthotic ankle-foot device designs.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between serum UCB levels within normal limits and carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients. The results showed that high serum UCB levels within the normal range were inversely associated with the risk of carotid plaque and stenosis, but not with CIMT. Furthermore, high-normal UCB levels may protect against carotid atherosclerosis through its anti-inflammatory effect.

Summary: The study indicates an overall increase in renal cancer incidence, with the most significant increase observed in early-stage cases, while there is a decrease in late-stage disease incidence. This may be attributed to an increase in the detection of early symptoms and improvements in earlier diagnosis.

Summary: This study investigated the predictive values of common abdominal symptoms for cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) using anonymous primary care data in the UK. The findings suggest that joint assessment of the risk of cancer or IBD based on different abdominal symptoms can better inform decision-making and prompt diagnosis, particularly in women and younger men.

Summary: The study found that women who experienced intimate partner violence and abuse had, on average, 26% higher depressive symptom scores after adjusting for confounding factors, while the difference was smaller for men. However, comparing the two groups, there was no evidence that exposure to intimate partner violence and abuse affected the change in depressive symptom scores over time. Therefore, the higher depressive symptoms in this young adult population are likely to be caused by prior vulnerability.

Summary: The study found that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) were associated with the chronic inflammation marker GlycA in middle age, but not during adolescence. The total ACE score and emotional neglect were related to higher GlycA levels. Future research should further explore the role of inflammation in mediating the impact of ACEs on adverse health outcomes later in life.

Summary: This study explored the experiences and pathways of young women who experienced intimate partner violence and abuse (IPVA) in their relationships. The findings revealed that early trauma led to isolation and loneliness, which increased the vulnerability to further violence and abuse in young adulthood. The support and listening from teachers were identified as potential ways to break this cycle.

Summary: This cross-sectional study examined the potential associations between family structure (including 'single-parent family', 'reconstructed family', and 'two-parent family') and multisite musculoskeletal pain in adolescents. The results showed that adolescents living in single-parent families had a 36% higher odds of experiencing multisite musculoskeletal pain compared to those in two-parent families, and belonging to a reconstructed family was associated with a 39% higher odds of multisite musculoskeletal pain.

It is important to understand effective responses to IPVA among different groups, as young people often do not seek adult support services.
