Summary: The present study aimed at investigating the interesterification reaction for the production of FAME from DSO in pressurized MeA catalyzed by NbOPO4. Important factors such as temperature, catalyst content, and DSO:MeA molar ratio were studied and optimized. An FAME yield of 87.48% was obtained by using 345°C, 8 wt% catalyst, and an MR of 1:35 in 60 min of reaction. The catalyst showed activity and a decrease in activity was observed in the reuse test.

Summary: The study compared the EOR performance of Gum Arabic (GA) and Xanthan Gum (XG) solutions, showing similar oil recovery for 1.0 wt% GA and 0.1 wt% XG polymeric solutions. GA exhibited Newtonian viscosity at high shear rates. The impact of nano-polymeric solutions on oil recovery was found to be higher than that of polymeric solutions.

Summary: The implementation of cleaner technologies that reduce environmental pollution caused by conventional industrial processes is a global trend. Enzymatic alternatives have replaced traditional chemicals in various industrial processes, including oil refining. By using enzymatic oil degumming, the volume of gums is reduced and the overall oil yield is increased. A thermostable phospholipase from Thermococcus kodakarensis has been found to effectively remove phospholipids from crude soybean oil at high temperatures, making it a promising candidate for industrial-scale enzymatic oil degumming.

Summary: This study compared the effects of ultrasound treatment on myofibrillar protein (MP) with and without the presence of soybean oil. The results showed that ultrasound treatment effectively reduced emulsion droplet size, increased zeta potential, and increased protein oxidation and disulfide bond formation in the MP-soybean oil system. The ultrasound treatment also resulted in a higher level of myosin and actin content at the soybean oil interface and accelerated the separation of myosin light chain from myosin in the MP-soybean oil system.

Summary: The effect of silica nanoparticles (NP-SiO2) in xanthan gum (XG) solutions was investigated in this study. The addition of nanoparticles showed a slight effect on the viscosity of the fluids, which became more remarkable over time. Interfacial tension tests measured in water-mineral oil systems did not find any effect on the interfacial properties with the addition of polymer or nanoparticles. Three core flooding experiments were conducted using sandstone core plugs and mineral oil, and the nanofluid formulation recovered about 13% of the residual oil, almost double that of the original XG solution.

Summary: This study synthesized core-shell microcapsules using unmodified and biodegradable glycogen nanoparticles from various sources to encapsulate soybean oil and vitamin D. The size and protein content of glycogen nanoparticles varied depending on their source, and adjusting synthetic parameters resulted in stable microcapsules. Native glycogen nanoparticles were found to efficiently encapsulate nutrients without additional chemical modification steps.

Summary: The present study investigates the potential of silk in oil-water separation. The results show that degummed silk modified with electrospun polylactic acid (DG-Silk/PLA) exhibits superhydrophobicity and superoleophilicity, resulting in the maximum oil absorption capacity and optimal oil-water separation. The findings of this study are significant for addressing oil spills and water pollution.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the continuous production of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) from deggumed soybean oil (DSO) and dimethyl carbonate (DMC) under supercritical conditions. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize important reaction variables as temperature, DMC:DSO mass ratio, and pressure with the FAME yield as a response. The influence of the free fatty acids content in the raw material was evaluated, and thermal decomposition phenomenon of esters at high temperatures was verified. Short residence times showed promising results in most experimental conditions.

Summary: In this study, a method of multipoint immobilized phospholipase A1 (PLA1) was proposed for degumming of crude soybean oil. The PLA1 was magnetically immobilized on a modified aldehyde-rich chitosan carrier, which exhibited high enzymatic load and good stability. This method achieved effective degumming and reduced phosphorus content in the oil.

Summary: This study analyzes the characteristics of process parameters in three lean gas ethane recovery processes and establishes a prediction and multiobjective optimization model for ethane recovery and system energy consumption. A new method for comparing ethane recovery processes for lean gas is proposed, and the addition of extra coolers improves the ethane recovery. The support vector regression model based on grey wolf optimization demonstrates the highest prediction accuracy, and the multiobjective multiverse optimization algorithm shows the best optimization performance and diversity in the solutions.

Summary: The paper proposes a novel deep learning-based prediction framework, aTCN-LSTM, for accurate cooling load predictions. The framework utilizes a gate-controlled multi-head temporal convolutional network and a sparse probabilistic self-attention mechanism with a bidirectional long short-term memory network to capture both temporal and long-term dependencies in the cooling load sequences. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, which can serve as an effective guide for HVAC chiller scheduling and demand management initiatives.

Summary: This study uses survey data from the Loess Plateau in China to evaluate the impact of social interaction on the adoption of soil and water conservation (SWC) technology by farmers. The study finds that social interaction increases the likelihood of farmers adopting SWC, and internet use moderates this effect. The positive impact of social interaction on SWC adoption is more pronounced for farmers in larger villages and those who join cooperative societies.
