Summary: In recent years, the demand for global cobalt resources has sharply increased, putting pressure on sustainable development and supply shortages. Existing research on cobalt resources mostly focuses on trade and domestic flows, neglecting the overall perspective. This article systematically analyzes cobalt element forms and constructs a material flow network model to observe and analyze cobalt resource dependence globally. The results show that specific countries have dominated the important trading countries for cobalt resources.

Summary: Promoting industrial upgrading is essential for achieving the coordination of industrial development and ecological protection in China. This study measures the industrial upgrading index (IUI) and ecoefficiency of 37 sub-industries in China based on comprehensive weighing and super-efficiency measure models. The impact of industrial upgrading on China's industrial eco-efficiency and its differences among industries are examined using panel data models. The results show that industrial upgrading significantly improves China's industrial eco-efficiency and has positive effects on both high-pollution and low-pollution industries.

Summary: This study aimed to incorporate malt bagasse residue into ceramic materials and test its performance as a partial substitute for clay. The mechanical properties of the ceramics decreased as the amount of residue increased. However, up to 5% incorporation of malt bagasse can still be considered acceptable, meeting the minimum recommended value for masonry ceramic components.

Summary: This study proposes a method for systematic evaluation and management of material efficiency measurement and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the analysis of the effects of recycling industrial wastes. By applying the methods of material flow analysis and life cycle assessment, the study calculates the GHG emissions in converting industrial waste into recycled materials and also calculates the GHG reduction effect by converting the sources of GHG emissions throughout the entire life cycle of recycled materials into renewable energy sources.

Summary: This study proposes a dynamic hybrid two-stage data envelopment analysis (DEA) model for eco-efficiency evaluation of China's regional industrial systems. By analyzing data from 2011 to 2015, it is found that the overall eco-efficiency of China's provincial industrial system is relatively low, mainly due to inefficiency in solid waste treatment and waste gas treatment. Additionally, the treatment capacity of industrial wastewater treatment facilities has a significant impact on the system's efficiency scores, especially at the wastewater treatment stage.

Summary: Nickel is a key metal required for the global low-carbon energy transition. The imbalance between global nickel resource supply and demand has become increasingly evident due to the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle industry. Understanding the trade structure and correlation between layers in the nickel industry chain can provide decision makers with insights to prevent supply risks. By constructing a multi-layer trade network of the nickel industry chain and analyzing its characteristics, it is found that global competition for intermediate nickel products is intense. China's nickel industry chain development is the most vulnerable globally, and the correlation between adjacent layers strengthens as we move down the nickel chain, indicating the importance of the integrity of a national industrial chain in preventing supply risks.

Summary: This study analyzes the characteristics of process parameters in three lean gas ethane recovery processes and establishes a prediction and multiobjective optimization model for ethane recovery and system energy consumption. A new method for comparing ethane recovery processes for lean gas is proposed, and the addition of extra coolers improves the ethane recovery. The support vector regression model based on grey wolf optimization demonstrates the highest prediction accuracy, and the multiobjective multiverse optimization algorithm shows the best optimization performance and diversity in the solutions.

Summary: The paper proposes a novel deep learning-based prediction framework, aTCN-LSTM, for accurate cooling load predictions. The framework utilizes a gate-controlled multi-head temporal convolutional network and a sparse probabilistic self-attention mechanism with a bidirectional long short-term memory network to capture both temporal and long-term dependencies in the cooling load sequences. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, which can serve as an effective guide for HVAC chiller scheduling and demand management initiatives.

Summary: This study uses survey data from the Loess Plateau in China to evaluate the impact of social interaction on the adoption of soil and water conservation (SWC) technology by farmers. The study finds that social interaction increases the likelihood of farmers adopting SWC, and internet use moderates this effect. The positive impact of social interaction on SWC adoption is more pronounced for farmers in larger villages and those who join cooperative societies.
