Summary: The study evaluated the growth and phytochemical variations in different tissues of two contrasting genotypes of Solanum viarum under in vitro and field conditions, revealing significant differences in growth, yield, and phytochemical content. The prickleless genotypes showed improved growth parameters and better bioactive phytomolecules repository, indicating higher yield potential over prickled plants. The study also examined gene expression profiles related to metabolite biosynthesis, providing insights for selecting an improved prickleless genotype of Solanum viarum.

Summary: This study analyzed the Se metabolites of a Se-enriched probiotic and identified gamma-glutamyl-selenomethionine as the major Se metabolite. It also discovered 11 minor Se metabolites, 8 of which were not previously reported in probiotics. These findings demonstrate the potential of this probiotic as an alternative source of organic Se for food and feed supplementation.

Summary: This study provides a better understanding of the bioaccumulation of pharmaceutical active compounds (PhACs) by clams Ruditapes decussatus in real environmental conditions, under the influence of urban treated effluent dispersal in Ria Formosa coastal lagoon. It disentangles key factors of PhAC bioaccumulation, showing the importance of biotic factors, physicochemical properties of PhACs, and the spatial variation caused by the salinity gradient.

Summary: A reliable HPLC-MS/MS method was established for simultaneous detection of ZEN-14G and ZEN in rats. The method showed good selectivity, linearity, sensitivity, recovery, precision, and stability. The study revealed the kinetic and distribution profiles of ZEN-14G and ZEN in plasma, urine, and various tissues of rats after oral administration of ZEN-14G. Continuous attention should be paid to the co-exposure of ZEN and ZEN-14G due to their potential health risks.

Summary: This study developed a semi-mechanistic population pharmacokinetic model to characterize the pharmacokinetic profile of M15-2, the active metabolite of vicagrel and clopidogrel. It was found that the bioactivation of vicagrel is more efficient and less dependent on CYP2C19 than that of clopidogrel, suggesting that vicagrel may reduce the complexity of currently recommended CYP2C19-based dosage adjustment for clopidogrel.

Summary: Synthetic surfactants, commonly used in various industries, have a negative impact on the environment due to their synthetic preparation. As a result, there is a growing interest in exploring natural sources of surfactants, which can be produced through environmentally friendly processes. Microbial production of such chemicals, however, often results in crude materials composed of multiple complex bioproducts. Therefore, advanced analytical methods are required for the extraction, identification, and characterization of biosurfactants.

Summary: This study evaluated the interaction of selexipag and clopidogrel in healthy male subjects, showing that clopidogrel had a moderate effect on the active metabolite ACT-333679 but a minimal effect on selexipag itself. Regardless of CYP2C8 genotype, the exposure of selexipag and ACT-333679 was comparable with clopidogrel. PK modeling and simulations supported the recommendation of adjusting selexipag dosing frequency or dose when coadministered with clopidogrel to maintain therapeutic levels of ACT-333679.
