Summary: The purpose of this study was to measure attention to food cues after engaging in multitasking or a single sustained attention task, and to examine the associations with weight status and excess consumption. The results showed that attention to food cues was greatest following multitasking and weakest following a sustained attention task. There was a significant positive association between first fixation duration and BMI-Z when measured after multitasking. Overall, multitasking may disrupt the cognitive system and increase attention to food cues.

Summary: This study found a positive association between childhood trauma, particularly emotional abuse, and elevated levels of the proinflammatory cytokine TNF alpha in depressed adolescents. However, no longitudinal relationship was found between childhood trauma and cytokine levels. These findings suggest that childhood trauma may contribute to heterogeneity in cytokine elevation among depressed adolescents.

Summary: The present study examined the relationship between childhood trauma and affective lability among adolescents. The results showed that childhood trauma, specifically emotional abuse, had an impact on affective lability in adolescents. Body image dissatisfaction and being bullied were found to moderate the relationship between emotional abuse and affective lability.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and factors associated with internet addiction (IA) among middle school students in Hunan Province, China. The results showed that the prevalence of IA was 12.8%, with associations found between IA and emotional abuse, emotional and physical neglect, suicidal behaviors, stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, and physical disorder history. Regression analysis revealed that emotional neglect, physical neglect, depressive symptoms, nationality, and age were independently associated with IA.

Summary: Food insecurity and adverse childhood experiences are consistently related, with higher ACE scores being associated with more severe food insecurity. Filling knowledge gaps regarding the relationship between ACEs and food insecurity is critical for designing nutrition interventions that promote food security, prevent the occurrence of ACEs, and improve health outcomes among vulnerable populations with high ACEs.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the pathogenesis of Internet addiction (IA) in adolescents and explore the potential mediating role of social support in childhood trauma and IA. Findings revealed that childhood trauma significantly affected the incidence of IA in adolescents, while social support had a significant mediating effect and attenuated the negative effects of childhood trauma.

Summary: This study investigates the prevalence of sleep problems in adolescents with depression and explores the relationships between childhood trauma, alexithymia, rumination, self-esteem, and sleep problems. The results show that 70.71% of adolescents with depression have sleep problems, and that alexithymia and rumination mediate the relationship between childhood trauma and sleep problems. Additionally, self-esteem moderates the relationships between alexithymia and sleep problems, as well as rumination and sleep problems.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis of whole brain voxel-based morphometry (VBM) correlates of childhood trauma in adolescents and found that childhood trauma may have negative effects on motor development and sensory sensitivity. These findings differ from previous studies in adults and have important implications for understanding the neural mechanisms of childhood trauma and developing effective therapies.

Summary: Physical separation from caregivers activates attachment-related behaviors, but little is known about the neural mechanisms underlying this in humans. This study used functional MRI to examine brain responses in typically developing children (9-11 years) to pictorial representations of separation, and found increased mentalization-related processing and activation of the salience network in response to separation cues. The findings also showed that avoidant vs. securely attached children differentially activated processes of affective evaluation.

Summary: This study investigated the current situation and risk factors of psychological sub-health (PSH) among Chinese adolescents, and explored the relationship between childhood trauma and PSH. The results showed that childhood trauma has direct and indirect effects on PSH, and internet addiction (IA) plays a mediating role in the indirect effect.
