Summary: In this study, organosilica membranes with good hydrothermal stability were prepared by incorporating ZIF-7 nanoparticles into 1, 2-bis(triethoxysilyl)ethane (BTESE) networks to improve the H-2/CO2 permselectivity. The effect of inorganic fillers was investigated by adjusting the doping content of ZIF-7 nanoparticles. The hybrid membranes showed a decrease in H-2/CO2 permselectivity with increasing nanoparticle doping content.

Summary: This review introduces a new type of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) called tetrahedral imidazolate frameworks with auxiliary ligands (TIF-Ax) by adding linear ligands (Hint) into the zinc-imidazolate system. Thanks to the synergistic effect of two different types of ligands, a series of new TIF-Ax with interesting topologies and a special pore environment has been reported, and they have attracted extensive attention in gas adsorption, separation, catalysis, heavy metal ion capture, and so on. This review provides a comprehensive overview of TIF-Ax, including their synthesis methods, structural diversity, and multi-field applications, and discusses the challenges and perspectives of the rational design and syntheses of new TIF-Ax.

Summary: This study investigated the pH-sensitive adsorption characteristics of two commonly used gastrointestinal drugs, famotidine (FA) and pantoprazole (PA), and the results showed that the adsorption process is highly dependent on the pH of the environment. The adsorbent demonstrated remarkable adsorption capabilities for both drugs, and the interactions between the adsorbent and drugs were explored, revealing the crucial role of pi-pi stacking, electrostatic and van der Waals interactions, and hydrogen bonding. The study also uncovered the pH-sensitive nature of the adsorption process and highlighted the potential of the adsorbent for the targeted removal of pharmaceutical pollutants under specific pH conditions.

Summary: The collapse of saccharide chains in GLYCAM06j force field, particularly for saccharides containing α-L-rhamnose, is caused by the abnormally low energy of a specific orientation of α-L-Rha to α-L-Rha glycosidic linkages, which is sustained by intramolecular interactions. The anomaly is attributed to the lack of partial charges on aliphatic hydrogens in GLYCAM force field, and the addition of small partial atomic charges on the aliphatic protons in rhamnose solves the problem.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained significant attention for anticorrosion applications due to their unique structures and excellent properties. Zeolite imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs), a prominent subclass of MOFs, have demonstrated hydrophobicity, corrosion inhibition, and water stability, making them widely used for metallic anticorrosion. This review focuses on the establishment and development of a theoretical model for superhydrophobicity and the applications of different kinds of ZIFs in metallic anticorrosion, with particular emphasis on ZIF-8. Additionally, the review summarizes the use of superhydrophobic coatings in various domains beyond anticorrosion and discusses the challenges and future development trends of these coatings.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the separation of ABE by using three hydrophobic zeolite imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) with different pore apertures. The results show that increasing the pore aperture decreases the adsorption amounts and affinity for acetone and ethanol, while increasing the adsorption of butanol with higher selectivities. ZIF-71, ZIF-11, and MAF-6 are promising adsorbents for ABE separation.

Summary: A series of mixed-linker ZIF-71-clnIm(x) samples with hydrogen bond-van der Waals (vdW) dual recognition sites were constructed using clnIm linkers to partially replace dclIm linkers in the ZIF-71 framework. Experimental and calculated results showed that ZIF-71-clnIm(x) with appropriate clnIm substitution proportion could enhance the interaction with 2,3-BDO and improve its adsorption and mass transfer, achieving efficient separation of 2,3-BDO/1,3-PDO. Molecular simulation results further confirmed the mixed recognition sites for 2,3-BDO adsorption in ZIF-71-clnIm(x) were the -NO2 of clnIm linker and the -Cl of dclIm linker, providing strong hydrogen bonds and weak vdW interactions.

Summary: Metal-Organic Frameworks are used as crystalline matrices to synthesize multiple component or multivariate solids, allowing for property customization. By optimizing synthesis through high-throughput methods, it is possible to create multivariate frameworks with efficient light sensitization, chemical stability, and porosity for photocatalysis applications. Solvent-assisted linker exchange reactions can control the distribution of linkers in crystals, affecting their performance in photocatalytic activities.
