Summary: Through studying the differentiation and metabolism of mammary epithelial cells, it was found that mitophagy occurs selectively during the differentiation process. Inhibiting autophagy impairs cell differentiation, while the PRKN protein is necessary for cell differentiation.

Summary: Myoglobin expression in mammary epithelial cells promotes fatty acid oxidation and reduces lipogenesis. Presence of oxygenated myoglobin increases limited fatty acid beta-oxidation and alters fatty acid composition. Myoglobin also enhances cytoplasmic fatty acid solubility and deposition to lipid droplets. These findings reveal novel functions of myoglobin in mammary epithelial cells, including regulation of fatty acid metabolism and inflammatory signaling.

Summary: MiR-19a plays a crucial role in regulating the proliferation and differentiation of bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMECs) and in biological processes related to triglyceride synthesis and lipid droplet formation by suppressing SYT1 expression.

Summary: This study investigates the regulatory mechanism of myristic acid on milk fat synthesis in cows. It reveals that myristic acid regulates milk fat synthesis through ubiquitination-lysosome and ubiquitination-proteasome pathways. The results demonstrate that myristic acid increases the protein expression levels of CD36, ADFP, and UB, as well as the content of triglyceride and lipid droplets in bovine mammary epithelial cells.

Summary: Research shows that the phosphorylation status of oncogenic KRAS is crucial for maintaining the malignant properties and tissue structure of colorectal cancer cells, as well as playing a key role in tumor growth in mice and gene expression regulation.

Summary: The study found that circ01592 promotes milk fat synthesis and increases the content of unsaturated fatty acids by binding to miR-218, while the function of miR-218 is opposite to that of circ01592. These findings provide a new research pathway for improving milk quality.

Summary: In this study, the researchers found that the secretome of non-tumorigenic mammary epithelial cells can affect the phenotype and migratory ability of irradiated breast tumor cells, with the involvement of the TGF-beta and Src activation/phosphorylation signaling pathway. This finding suggests that non-tumorigenic epithelial mammary cells included in the irradiation field may influence the response to irradiation of post-surgery residual cancer cells, thus modifying the efficacy of radiotherapy.

Summary: Mastitis is a complex inflammatory disease in dairy cows caused by pathogenic infection, and miR-125b plays a crucial role in its occurrence and development. Downregulation of miR-125b can increase inflammatory factors production, while its upregulation can alleviate the inflammatory response.

Summary: ADIPOR1 plays a central role in regulating milk fat metabolism by influencing the transcription of genes such as SREBF1, ACACA, FASN, SCD, ATGL, and HSL in goat mammary gland. Overexpression and knockdown of ADIPOR1 resulted in significant changes in the expression levels of these genes, demonstrating its crucial role in the process. Additionally, treatment with AdipoRon led to a significant increase in the mRNA expression of most genes related to milk fat metabolism in GMECs.

Summary: This study revealed the molecular mechanisms by which miR-199a-3p regulates the proliferation and milk fat synthesis of ovine mammary epithelial cells (OMECs). miR-199a-3p promotes the viability and proliferation of OMECs by targeting the very low-density lipoprotein receptor (VLDLR) and regulates the expression of milk fat synthesis marker genes. The findings suggest that miR-199a-3p inhibits milk fat synthesis in OMECs.

Summary: The study identified an miRNA, bta-miR-125a, that can control milk-fat production in cows by targeting the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of the SAA1 gene. The presence of miR-125a mimic decreased SAA1 expression and increased triglyceride and cholesterol content in bovine mammary epithelial cells.
