Summary: Liver diseases are a significant threat to human health, with autoimmune hepatitis being a chronic condition that can lead to severe complications. Natural products are promising therapies for treating liver disorders, and there is a need for discovering new drug candidates to treat immune-mediated liver injury.

Summary: This research aims to address the limitations of current marketed ketoconazole products by developing a new ophthalmic drug delivery system using cubosomes. The inclusion of ketoconazole in cubosomes within a biodegradable gel resulted in enhanced drug permeability, ocular availability, and antifungal activity, showing promising potential for managing eye infections.

Summary: This study aims to understand the role of tumor suppressor genes in colorectal cancer initiation and progression. The results show that the tumor suppressor gene ATP8B1, located on chromosome 18q, is associated with increased cell proliferation and reduced cell death when knocked down, suggesting its role in suppressing tumor growth.

Summary: ABCA7 plays a crucial role in brain SM metabolism and is associated with late-onset Alzheimer's disease. Deficiency of ABCA7 results in lower levels of SM in the mouse brain, cognitive behavioral deficits in older KO mice, and abnormalities in synaptic plasticity at certain synapses.

Summary: Saturated FFAs, such as palmitate, circulating in the body can cause ER stress and insulin resistance. In this study, it was found that palmitate treatment reduced insulin-mediated glucose uptake and ERK phosphorylation in Huh-7 cells, while AKT phosphorylation remained unchanged. Supplementation of oleate alleviated palmitate-induced ER stress but did not affect insulin-mediated glucose uptake or ERK phosphorylation.

Summary: Lipid rafts rich in membrane cholesterol play a crucial role in the entry of SARS-CoV-2 into target cells. Depletion of cholesterol in these rafts increases SARS-CoV-2 entry, while exogenous cholesterol replenishment reverses this effect. Disturbance of intracellular cholesterol homeostasis also reduces viral entry.

Summary: The study found that ABCC10 deficiency reduces plasma and intestinal triglyceride levels in male mice, improves diet-induced obesity, but does not affect atherosclerosis. ABCC10 regulates dietary fat absorption in mice.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the association of serum zinc and inflammatory markers with the severity of COVID-19 infection. The study found that COVID-19 patients had lower serum zinc levels, which were negatively correlated with the severity of infection. Inflammatory markers showed a positive correlation with the severity of COVID-19 infection and a negative correlation with serum zinc levels.

Summary: This study investigated the antifungal activity, ocular irritation, and transport of fluconazole-loaded poly (epsilon-caprolactone) nanoparticles in a rabbit eye model. The optimized nanoparticles showed excellent antifungal activity, high drug entrapment efficiency, and were able to be successfully delivered to the eye using a thermosensitive in situ hydrogel, without causing irritation to the cornea.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify lipoprotein subpopulations in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and determine their associations with insulin resistance and inflammation markers. The results showed that the number and size of VLDL and HDL large particles were strongly associated with insulin resistance, while the concentrations of small VLDL and HDL particles were associated with inflammation markers.

Summary: G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) play important roles in adipose tissue, with their expression being influenced by adipocyte differentiation and obesity. In mouse adipose tissue, 292 and 271 GPCRs were detected in white and brown adipose tissue, respectively, with some GPCRs being specific to each tissue type. The expression of numerous GPCRs was also identified in subcutaneous adipose tissue from human subjects and was altered in obesity and high-fat diet conditions. These GPCRs could have significant implications for adipose metabolism and serve as valuable resources for obesity and metabolic research.
