Summary: The INSIGs proteins regulate cholesterol metabolism in the endoplasmic reticulum, and interaction with certain oxysterols can increase ATF4 protein expression, leading to the upregulation of cell death-inducible genes and promotion of cell death.

Summary: This study found that GDF11 induces muscle atrophy through the GDF11-FOXO1 axis at pathophysiological levels. Using human iPSC-derived myocytes, researchers demonstrated that pathophysiological concentrations of GDF11 significantly reduce myocyte diameters and activate the Smad2/3 signaling pathway.

Summary: Intestinal organoid-derived two-dimensionally cultured intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) showed similar expression of intestinal markers and functional genes compared to their parental organoids, suggesting that the culture conditions do not significantly affect the fundamental properties of the cells. This indicates that these cells can be used as novel biological tools for investigating the physiological functions of the human intestine.

Summary: TGR5 activation in skeletal muscle improved glucose utilization and blood glucose clearance in mice, without altering insulin sensitivity or reducing body weight. The results suggest that TGR5 may ameliorate glucose metabolism disorders caused by diet-induced obesity and aging, offering a potential novel strategy for preventing or treating hyperglycemia.

Summary: The study showed that orange peel extract (OPE) has a protective effect against skeletal muscle inflammation induced by downhill running (DR) by increasing anti-inflammatory cytokine levels, with IL-1RA playing a crucial role in regulating skeletal muscle inflammation.
