Summary: Infection with H. pylori can lead to gastroduodenal diseases, while CagA-positive strains may contribute to hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. Research has shown that CagA inhibits LDL uptake mediated by LDLR, which in turn may increase plasma LDL levels and accelerate atherosclerosis.

Summary: Multiple studies have shown a high prevalence of dyslipidemia in children, emphasizing the importance of early recognition to prevent future coronary heart disease. Among the various equations for estimating LDL-C, the extended Martin-Hopkins formula was found to provide the most reliable results in a large pediatric population.

Summary: In the general US adult population, remnant cholesterol (RC) is associated with hypertension beyond LDL-C levels. Elevated RC levels are linked to a higher prevalence of hypertension, independent of BMI, LDL-C, HDL-C, or triglycerides.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between serum lipids and pterygium in a large-scale rural population in Southern China aged 40 years or older. The study found that increased levels of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) were positively associated with the risk of pterygium. This association was stronger in participants aged 40-49 years and those with a normal body mass index (BMI).

Summary: The ratio of uric acid to HDL-cholesterol (UHR) is closely associated with cardiovascular disease morbidity and arterial stiffness, especially in females, individuals without fatty liver, and those with normal BMI. This study revealed a nonlinear relationship between UHR and brachial-ankle PWV (baPWV), suggesting that UHR may be an important indicator for assessing cardiovascular disease risk.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between neonicotinoid insecticides (NNIs) and their metabolites in urine with serum lipid profiles in adults. The results showed a significant positive correlation between N-desmethyl-acetamiprid and total cholesterol (TC) levels, especially in participants aged over 46 years. Body mass index (BMI) also modified the association between N-desmethyl-acetamiprid and LDL-C and Apo-B levels.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the prognostic value of cholesterol levels in CLL and develop a prognostic nomogram that incorporates lipid metabolism. The results showed that lower cholesterol levels at diagnosis were associated with worse prognosis, and post-therapeutic elevation of cholesterol levels correlated with better survival. Therefore, cholesterol profiles can be used as a cheap and readily accessible tool for predicting prognosis in CLL.

Summary: The study showed that MEDI6012 has an acceptable safety profile and can increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, endogenous apoA1, and non-ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 cholesterol efflux capacity in patients with stable coronary heart disease, while reducing the number of atherogenic low-density lipoprotein particles.

Summary: This study investigated the age-related association between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). The results showed a positive association between LDL-C and ASCVD risk across all age groups, and individuals aged 75 and above with higher LDL-C levels still had an increased risk of ASCVD. Therefore, managing LDL-C is crucial for the prevention of primary ASCVD in the elderly population.

Summary: Preoperative high LDL-C level is significantly associated with worse overall survival, while high HDL-C level is significantly associated with better progression-free survival in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer. Patients with low LDL-C levels have longer overall survival, and patients with high HDL-C levels have better progression-free survival.

Summary: This prospective cohort study examined the associations between mold growth, type of stoves, and fragrance materials with early childhood wheezing and asthma. The study found significant associations between mold growth and wood stove/fireplace with childhood wheezing, particularly in the northern regions. Recommendations include mold elimination in dwellings and the use of clean heating to prevent and improve childhood wheezing and asthma.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the neurodevelopment of infants born to women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) using data from the National Birth Cohort in Japan. It found that neurodevelopmental delays, especially in problem-solving ability, fine motor skills, and personal and social skills, were significantly higher in infants born to women with GDM. The study also showed that boys born to women with GDM had significantly delayed neurodevelopment up to 4 years of age.

Summary: This study investigated the factors associated with the retention or migration of internal medicine doctors to rural areas in Japan, including age, sex, board certification, type of work, and main clinical work. The results showed that female doctors in rural areas were more likely to stay, while obtaining subspecialty board certification was a potential barrier to rural work. Additionally, doctors without specific subspecialty and those in general internal medicine were more likely to migrate to non-rural areas.
