Summary: The study quantified the overall incidence of lateral trochanteric pain (LTP) following total hip arthroplasty (THA) and assessed the risk based on surgical approaches. The direct anterior approach showed the highest risk of LTP, while non-CSI modalities and CSI were successful treatment options. Patients with depression, kidney disease, and osteoporosis may have less efficacy with conservative treatment.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the incidence of trochanteric bursitis post total hip arthroplasty and its potential association with changes in offset, lateralisation, and leg length discrepancy. The retrospective study on 200 consecutive total hip arthroplasties found a 7% incidence of symptomatic trochanteric bursitis requiring corticosteroid injection, with no significant differences in radiographic parameters between affected and unaffected patients. Trochanteric bursitis post total hip arthroplasty is a poorly understood but common complication that negatively impacts outcomes.

Summary: A secondary analysis of a clinical trial involving 55 total hip arthroplasty patients compared the incidence of greater trochanteric pain (GTP) between a direct anterior approach (DAA) and a posterior approach (PA), finding a higher occurrence in the PA group. While patients in the PA group reported more pain when lying on their operated side, the overall functional outcomes and satisfaction scores were similar between the two approaches.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical and radiographic outcomes of patients undergoing primary cementless ceramic-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasty (THA) with a minimum follow-up of 20 years. The long-term follow-up showed excellent implant survival, excellent functional outcomes, and minimal late complications, with no significant radiographic evidence of failure at a minimum of 20 years after THA.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of two-stage revision total hip arthroplasty with and without the use of extended trochanteric osteotomy for periprosthetic infection. The results showed that patients undergoing osteotomy had a lower rate of interim re-debridement, but similar reinfection rates following reimplantation.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injections for iliopsoas tendonitis following total hip arthroplasty. The results showed that 78.6% of patients experienced resolution of groin pain, with better outcomes observed in patients without acetabular overhang. Ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injections appear to be a safe and effective treatment for iliopsoas tendonitis following total hip arthroplasty.

Summary: Although no differences were found in MRI and radiographic parameters between women with and without GTPS, evaluations of muscle strength and endurance can differentiate between the two groups.

Summary: The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze F-18-FDG PET/CT images of non-infected hip arthroplasty patients and identify findings that have clinical implications. The SUVmax values were compared and correlated with serologic parameters. The images were classified based on F-18-FDG uptake pattern, and the dynamic characteristics of the condition were observed.

Summary: Partial two-stage reconstruction is a promising technique for the treatment of chronic periprosthetic joint infection in patients with a well-fixed stem and complex re-revision acetabular procedures. Further prospective studies and prolonged follow-ups are required to confirm our results.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the ipsilateral loading and return to weight-bearing symmetry in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) using instrumented insoles. The results showed that THA patients improved in standing comfortably and sit-to-stand-to-sit transitions compared to pre-surgery levels, and the deficits observed within a week post-surgery were also improved. The ipsilateral loading and WBS of THA patients were comparable to healthy participants at 6-12 weeks post-THA, except for ipsilateral loading during walking.
