Summary: This study focuses on the thermal decomposition behaviors of EP/15%APP-Cu2O and found that it has better flame retardant properties compared to EP/15%APP. The addition of APP or APP-Cu2O enhances the thermal degradation activation energies of EP, contributing to the protective effect of char formation. Incorporation of 3 wt% Cu2O significantly decreases the thermal degradation activation energies at the early decomposition stage of EP, potentially contributing to intumescent char formation and improving fire safety.

Summary: This study presents an effective self-intumescent flame retardant system for epoxy resin based on the synergistic effect between Cu2O and ammonium polyphosphate. The optimal mass ratio of Cu2O: APP was found to be 2:8, resulting in improved fire performance of EP. The presence of Cu2O catalyzes char formation and CO to CO2 conversion, leading to decreased heat release and smoke production in EP.

Summary: Water hyacinth fiber and ammonium polyphosphate were used to formulate an environmentally friendly intumescent flame retardant for poly (butylene succinate) composites. The addition of glycidyl methacrylate grafted poly (butylene succinate) significantly improved the mechanical and thermal properties of the composites. The combination of APP and WHF promoted the formation of an expanded char layer, while PBS-g-GMA induced the formation of compact, highly graphitized residues. The findings contribute to the development of biodegradable flame-retardant polymer composites.

Summary: In this study, the shape memory properties of poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) blends were improved by adding maleic anhydride-grafted poly(lactic acid) (PLA-g-MA) as a compatibilizer. The PLA-g-MA improved interfacial adhesion between phases and promoted chain entanglement, leading to enhanced mechanical properties and shape fixity performance. The compatibilized blend containing 2 wt% PLA-g-MA exhibited the best shape fixity and recovery performance.
