Summary: The study successfully prepared a stable epoxy-acrylate composite latex through emulsion polymerization, with the structural conformation determined by FTIR. Factors affecting the stability of the composite latex were investigated, and the optimal conditions were found to be 1.5 wt% methyl acrylic acid and 15 wt% modified EPAC oligomer. TEM and TOPEM-DSC results confirmed the self-crosslinking ability of the composite latex during film formation.

Summary: This article focuses on the evaporation process of ethanol, n-hexane, and n-octane by utilizing a Differential Scanning Calorimetry/Thermogravimetric Analysis (DSC/TGA) method. An Aspen Plus model is used to predict the liquid and vapor phase concentrations during mixture evaporation, and the validation of the model is confirmed by comparing the trends of the mass spectrometry (MS) ion count profiles.

Summary: The thermal and crystallization properties of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) in the presence of metaleorganic frameworks (MOFs) such as UiO-66(Zr) were systematically studied. UiO-66(Zr) functions as a key nucleating agent in the PET scheme, and adding UiO-66 accelerates the crystallization of PET.

Summary: Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a powerful technique for studying temperature-induced phase transitions. This work proposes an automated method for signal extraction and baseline estimation, based on semi supervised machine learning, to improve the speed and accuracy of data interpretation. The method demonstrates efficacy in identifying signals of interest and obtaining thermodynamic parameters from peak signals.

Summary: Analytical reagents have the capability to identify and control metal pollution, but the safety concerns regarding their thermal properties, especially when heated, have been overlooked. This research investigates the thermal hazards of the highly reactive analytical reagent styphnic acid through various experimental methods, and calculates its apparent activation energy. The study reveals that styphnic acid exhibits thermal instability at elevated temperatures, and the hazard is dependent on the heating rate. Therefore, it is essential to consider the thermal risks and adopt safe storage and transportation practices during analytical applications.

Summary: This paper provides an intensive overview of flame retardant coating systems, which are an effective solution to prevent flame occurrence due to thermal degradation. The paper discusses the classifications of coating and their relation to thermal degradation and flammability, as well as the principles, types, mechanisms, and properties of flame retardants and flame retardant coatings. The importance of intumescent flame retardant coatings in preventing flame spread and reducing fire hazards is highlighted.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of three different waste plastic-modified asphalts on the performance of conventional asphalt and determined the optimal preparation parameters. The mechanism of waste plastic-modified asphalt was elucidated using thermogravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Waste plastic-modified asphalts exhibited better high-temperature performance and can effectively address the issue of waste plastic disposal.

Summary: The study found that the size of microplastic particles affects the DSC signal, but through appropriate sample preparation, signals corresponding to microplastics of different sizes can be identified and quantified. Additionally, the application of DSC technique in the field of microplastics may provide estimates of the number of microplastic particles within a sample.
