Summary: The study investigated the relationship between the local structures of middle lanthanoid elements in complex oxides and the characteristic features of XANES spectra. It was found that there was a significant correlation between certain physical indexes and the pre-edge peak areas of Ln L-1-edge or the full width at half maximum of white line in Ln L-3-edge XANES spectra. Theoretical simulations revealed the origin of pre-edge peaks in Ln L-1-edge XANES spectra, providing a universal method to estimate the local structure of middle lanthanoid elements.

Summary: The mu-nitrido diiron phthalocyanine complex has been found to efficiently catalyze the oxidative defluorination of poly- and perfluoroaromatics. Through the investigation of the structural and electronic properties, the mechanism of the catalytic reaction has been revealed. Furthermore, this study has expanded the application of this method to perfluorinated olefins.

Summary: The study investigated the behavior of the electronic spectrum of the indicator methyl orange in various water-alcohol binary mixtures, showing synergistic and preferential solvation effects. The aim was to evaluate the physical-chemical properties of methyl orange as a perichromic indicator in these mixtures, where it can act as a colorimetric sensor for the detection of short-chain alcohols in the presence of water.

Summary: The study examined the properties of argon/dust and pure argon pulsed plasmas using a spatially-averaged model. The results showed a good qualitative agreement between calculated and experimental data, with a better fit observed using Druyvesteyn EEPF. Additionally, the analysis highlighted the impact of pulsing frequency on plasma properties, revealing differences in density between dusty and dust-free plasmas.

Summary: Diffusion of hydrogen bearing species in glasses is crucial in various applications. This study presents a new approach to investigate water diffusion in glasses, overcoming previous experimental and analytical challenges. By using diffusion couples of An50Di50 glass coated with hydrated glass films, the study accurately interprets diffusion profiles and suggests the suitability of the samples for diffusion studies under different experimental conditions.

Summary: Thermally stable hydrogenated nitrogen-rich carbon nitride nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via low-pressure low-power plasma vapour deposition technique in this study. Through various analytical methods, the thermal stability and nitrogen-rich characteristics of the material were verified. The material was found to undergo a transformation during thermal annealing, while still maintaining stability at high temperatures.

Summary: Amphiphilic polysaccharides were fabricated by coupling hydrophobic PFPA to hydrophilic alginic acid, and their resistance against protein adsorption and marine fouling organisms was explored. The amphiphilic multilayers exhibited higher resistance towards protein adsorption and microfouling marine organisms compared to multilayers without fluoroalkyl groups.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the diffusion of hydrogen molecules inside layered MoS2 crystals depends on their direction parallel and perpendicular to the basal planes. Within the two-dimensional crystal layers, hydrogen molecules diffuse quickly, while diffusion perpendicular to the basal planes is significantly slower.
