Summary: Active metasurfaces at optical frequencies enable dynamic wavefront control of light, and investigating their thermal performance limits is crucial for high-power applications. We experimentally demonstrate that gate-tunable conducting oxide metasurfaces can withstand high power densities without significant changes in their optical response, making them robust for applications such as optical communications and LiDAR.

Summary: The template-directed synthesis of nucleic acids in the polymerase chain reaction was achieved by attaching a high affinity primer to a mixed sequence template. The study demonstrated a substantial template effect through H-bonding interactions between the phenols on the template and phosphine oxides on the azide. The use of a compound with multiple H-bonding capability resulted in the highest rate acceleration.

Summary: Optical antennas are nanostructures designed to manipulate light-matter interactions by interfacing propagating light with localized optical fields. Successful phased array nanoantenna designs have required the organization of several elements over a footprint comparable to the operating wavelength. This study reports unidirectional emission of a single fluorophore using an ultracompact optical antenna, achieving high forward to backward ratio.

Summary: A thermally stable, crystalline, electrically conducting, and brightly fluorescent anthracene nanorod is reported. The nanorod exhibits tunable bandgap, high thermal stability, significant electrical conductivity, and excitation-dependent emission due to its unique covalent linkages. This material stands out among known 1D nanomaterials.

Summary: This article investigates the g-jitter effect on the rate of mass transport in electrically-conducting Newtonian fluid, by solving a system of differential equations and presenting the influence of different dimensionless quantities graphically. It is found that the Sherwood number can be tuned by adjusting the amplitude and frequency of gravity modulation.

Summary: Two methylammonium-templated metal vanadates with open-framework structures have been synthesized, where the methylammonium cations act as both charge-compensating and structure-directing agents. Compound 1 shows effective adsorption performance towards Eu(3+) via ion exchange, and magnetic study reveals antiferromagnetic exchange between Mn2+ ions.

Summary: The study presents a reaction system for synthesizing Bcr-Abl tyrosine kinase inhibitors in water using native chemical ligation to form benzanilides. This method was successfully applied for the synthesis of thiolated ponatinib and GZD824 derivatives, with only a moderate effect on the affinity for Abl1 kinase. Nucleic acid-templated benzanilide formation could potentially find application in DNA-encoded combinatorial libraries for drug discovery.

Summary: In this study, anti-reflective and high-transmittance optical films based on nanoporous silicon dioxide (SiO2) were fabricated using templated synthesis. The process involved preparing amorphous mesoporous polystyrene (PS) thin-film templates and using them for the preparation of nanoporous SiO2 thin films. The resulting films exhibited low reflectance of 6.9% and high transmittance of 96.5% in the visible light range.

Summary: This paper investigates the mobility of cilia in a non-uniform tapered channel in the presence of an induced magnetic field and heat transfer. The Jeffrey fluid model is used to study the rheology of the fluid with cilia motion. By solving the formulated linear but coupled differential equations analytically, the physical mechanisms of significant parameters, such as velocity profile, magnetic force function, and current density, are described.

Summary: Cilia are commonly found in mammalian cells and play a significant role in cell cycle movement and proliferation, as well as human and animal growth. They can generate propulsive forces that enable the movement of organisms in fluid settings. In this study, thermal and mass transfer in beating cilia of non-Newtonian Ree-Eyring fluid were measured in two- and three-dimensional channels using magnetohydrodynamics in porous medium. The governing equations for both the dusty and fluid phase were formulated, and exact solutions for velocity, temperature, concentration, and pressure gradient were calculated. The physical behavior was discussed by plotting dimensionless parameters for velocity, thermal, and concentration.

Summary: A zero-background fluorescent aptasensor for ultrasensitive detection of pesticides was developed, using CuNPs as a fluorescent signal and a 3-D DNA walker as a signal amplifier. The aptasensor can detect Omethoate with high sensitivity in the linear range of 0-200 nM, providing a facile strategy for pesticide determination in food safety and environmental monitoring.

Summary: Strand displacement DNA synthesis (SDDS) is a crucial step in DNA replication with complex kinetics. Experiments with magnetic tweezers show that the rate and processivity of SDDS are influenced by force and dNTP concentration. Moreover, GC content has a significant impact on the processivity and rate of SDDS and exonuclease activity.

Summary: In this study, Ca doped CuScO2 delafossite oxides were synthesized using the hydrothermal method, with increasing Ca dopant leading to thinner sheets and decreased conductivity. Additionally, all samples exhibited absorption in the visible light region, and the optical band gap values showed a blue shift with increasing Ca dopant. These results suggest potential applications of these materials in optoelectronic devices.
