Summary: In this study, a large-scale investigation was conducted on nosocomial Staphylococcus aureus strains in Southern China from 2009 to 2015. The study focused on antibiotic resistance, virulence gene acquisition, and molecular types. The findings revealed an increase in MRSA resistance, significant differences in virulence genes, and molecular types. Importantly, this study fills a gap in previous research since 2006 or 2010.

Summary: This study aimed to characterize methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates from the blood of hospitalized patients in the Czech Republic between 2016 and 2018. The majority of MRSA strains were found to be resistant to several antibiotics, with 52 different spa types identified in the analyzed strains. The CC5 clonal complex was predominant in this study, with other CCs such as CC398, CC22, CC8, CC45, and CC97 also present.

Summary: This study evaluated the susceptibility of 472 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates to ceftobiprole (BPR) and investigated the mechanisms underlying BPR resistance. The results showed that community-associated MRSA isolates were more susceptible to BPR than healthcare-associated MRSA isolates. Nanopore sequencing revealed SCCmec repeat-mediated resistance mechanism in BPR-resistant MRSA isolates, and mutations in multiple genes were found to potentially contribute to BPR-resistance development in MRSA.

Summary: This study compared the clonality and SCCmec type of CoNS isolates from different sources in the same community, revealing high clonal diversity in S. epidermidis and circulation of some S. haemolyticus clones in both hospital and community. The presence of different SCCmec types within the same cluster indicated high diversity, suggesting SCCmec may not be a good marker of clonality in these bacteria.
