Summary: This study found that the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs1937 on the mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) gene is associated with longevity. Individuals with the CC genotype of rs1937 are more likely to have increased longevity. Further studies are needed to understand the biological mechanism of rs1937 in promoting longevity.

Summary: The study investigated the association between SNP of the RFRP gene and the reproductive traits and hormone levels of Zhenning yellow chickens. Several mutation sites in the RFRP gene were found to be significantly related to reproductive traits and hormone levels, providing potential markers for improving chicken reproductive traits. The study also showed differences in mRNA expression levels of RFRP between different tissues, ages, and genotypes.

Summary: This study evaluated the reproductive performance and longevity of gilts under different feeding regimes and genetic lines. The results showed that feed restriction and genetic line influenced the age at puberty, litter size, and weaning weight of gilts. However, there were no significant differences in lifetime production traits. The findings provide a foundation for further research.

Summary: Increasing feed intake during late gestation may improve the nutritional status of sows and have a positive impact on litter size of hyperprolific sows. However, body condition score must be carefully evaluated to prevent excessive weight gain.

Summary: This study investigated the distribution of SNP sites in immune-related genes and their correlations with cell surface markers in different breeds of pigs. The findings revealed significant SNP differences among breeds, particularly between Taiwan black and Landrace pigs, as well as correlations between certain SNPs and the expression of cell surface markers. Understanding the genetic uniqueness of each breed could help identify functionally important SNPs in immunoregulation.

Summary: This study identifies several anatomical and histomorphological metrics related to the reproductive performance of swine, which can inform production protocols and aid in the selection of elite breeding sows. Further research is warranted into non-invasive or minimally invasive techniques for obtaining such measures.

Summary: Retrotransposon-induced structural variation plays a significant role in the pig genome, particularly in reproductive traits. PCR detection revealed rich polymorphisms in certain genes, which could serve as important molecular markers in breeding systems.

Summary: The study reveals that a single amino acid change in a potassium channel subunit can lead to matricidal hatching in nematodes by reducing the sensitivity to environmental stimuli triggering egg-laying, and this trait can be maintained under fluctuating resource availability.

Summary: This study identified several genes in rice that have relatively high tolerance to salinity stress, including three key genes related to yield located on chromosome 3. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the salinity tolerance mechanisms during the reproductive stage in rice.

Summary: The field performance of herbaceous annual plants is influenced by plant architecture and flowering performance. A study was conducted on a Petunia hybrid population in four field environments in the United States to analyze seven plant habit and flowering-related traits. Robust QTLs were identified for most traits and they were distributed across the Petunia chromosomes. These QTLs explained a substantial proportion of the observed phenotypic variation for most traits.

Summary: This study successfully validated onion resistance to Fusarium basal rot through genetic analysis and selective breeding. Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) regulating resistance were identified, and genomic regions associated with resistance on chromosomes 2 and 4 were validated. A QTL that decreased resistance was also discovered.

Summary: This study firstly identified the three nucleotide variants of the goat PRNT gene that significantly influence litter size, and further investigated the impact of the PRNT gene on the growth performance of goats. The results showed a significant association between g.117A > G and cannon circumference, suggesting the potential use of g.117A > G as a DNA marker for MAS breeding.

Summary: Understanding the physiological mechanisms responsible for the reproductive and productive development of modern sow genotypes is important for improving production rates and welfare in commercial pig production. This review discusses the challenges and management strategies in the productive and reproductive phases of hyperprolific sows, as well as the care and challenges associated with their piglets during lactation.

Summary: The single-step genomic evaluation model in German Holsteins shows higher prediction correlation and greater genomic breeding values variance compared to the current multistep genomic model. There was no overprediction of young animals for conformation traits by the single-step SNP BLUP model in German Holsteins.

Summary: In this study, the researchers found a SNP in NLRP9 that is associated with litter size in Large White pigs. Sows with the CC genotype have the highest total number of piglets born per litter and number of piglets born alive per litter, while sows with the TT genotype have the lowest. There is also a significant relationship between NLRP9 polymorphism and average daily gain.
